Default Standard immobiliser

Does my year 2000 classic have a transponder in the key for the standard immobiliser, If it does, is it controled by the ecu...?
The reason i'm asking is that i want to change the ecu for a my99 and didn't know if it was just going to be a straight forward swap...?

Thanks in advance
