Default Using Cliffnet Wizard A USB Adapter

Has anyone managed to get Cliffnet working with a USB adapter?

The standard serial com port connector is useless, as most laptop since 1870 don't have serial ports anymore.

Can anyone give me any help?

all you need to get is a pcmcia rs232c card for your laptop. That will give you a proper serial port for the Cliffnet to work with.

Check ebay, there are normally loads of them available for around £5

I use a Prolific Technologies USB to serial adapter with Cliffnet with no problems. This was under Win2k and XP.

The only times I had an issue was when Windows assigned a high com port number to the interface. I think I had to assign it one between 1-4?

You do this in device manager, properties on the usb com port, port settings tab and then the advanced button.
