Pager System options?
Hi folks, could anyone advise me on what (in their experience) are the best "Pager Systems" to add onto my WRX MY05 with the M30 already fitted (by Subaru UK I assume)?
What I am looking for is something to let me know the car is being tampered with whilst I am out of earshot of the Siren, I assume some would do it via mobile phone (requiring a sim card etc?) and others have a limited range but dont require a mobile phone?
I am a trained AutoElectrician so fitment shouldn't really be a problem, unless it is required as part of a warranty etc...
TIA...D-an-W

Most pager units can be activated by the Sigma M30's "triigered output". This output is not used on UK Subaru models, so the wire is not present in the 20-pole connector, but a wire can easily be terminated and added to the connector at pin 18. With this connection made, the alarm system will activate the pager each time the alarm is triggered.
Some pager units may also require thr "armed input" from the alarm aswell, again, altough the wire is not present in the connector, it can be added at pin 3.
Personally, due to limited range of RF (Radio Frequency) pager systems I would go for the later GSM types that can text your mobile in the event of an alarm trigger almost world wide provided your phone network provides coverage. The other advantage of these systems is that you only have to carry your phone, not another device and similarly only one battery to keep charged. Of course the only downside is that they are more costly, but prices have fallen in recent years.
I have used the "Toad Text Alert" GSM pager with the M30, in addition to warnings that the alarm system has been triggered, it will also text you to warn of low vehicle battery voltage and if vehicle motion is detected. For an additional subscription, the unit can also act as a tracking system, allowing you to locate your vehicle using a website.
Contact your local Sigma or Toad alarm specialist for more details about the "Text Alert" system - your nearest dealer can be found using the link at www.tg21plc.com or calling the sales desk on 0870 417 7795 during office hours.
