Following the system triggering, enter the following into the keypad:
*17856*38#
then count the nuber of flashes from the alarm systems LED (mounted to the left of the clock on 01MY)
The flashes indicate the last triggered circuit as follows:
1= Ignition Circuit
2= Door Trigger
4= Boot Trigger
8= Bonnet Trigger
16= Ultrasonics
Once the circuit to cause the last trigger has been established, typing in the following codes will display the total number of triggers for each individual circuit, again using the LED to confirm the troublesome circuit:
*17856*33# Ignition Triggers
*17856*34# Door Triggers
*17856*35# Boot Triggers
*17856*36# Bonnet Switch
*17856*37# Ultrasonic Triggers
This should identify the circuit causing problems, if nothing is immediately apparent to you, let me know which circuit it is and I'll try and help further.

Sigma Sam I have tried what you have suggested several times with the ignition on & off and the led next to the clock has not flashed. The led next to the key pad flashes but far too quickly to count how many times.
I had a new keyfob programmed into the system a few months ago and the guy who programmed it didn't use the keypad as he said one of the numbers wasn't working properley, but i don't know which one, is there another way around this or anymore suggestions?
thanks

Ignition must be off with system disarmed to enter sequence.
Ensure the LED on the keypad illuminates briefly after each character is pressed, before pressing the next - dont enter the digits too quickly. However, if you pause for more than 10 seconds whilst entering a sequence the system will automatically leave programming mode - so not too slow either!
If you are having trouble pressing the buttons individually, try using the rubber on the end of a pencil, but not a sharp point that can damage the membrane.
The repeated flash from the keypad LED that you mention means abandon attempt, Arm/Disarm and try again. If the keypad LED flashes repeatedly three times it will lock out for 30 mins before you can try again - it sees the random number input as 3 incorrect PIN attempts.
You should be able to tell if you have faulty button as the LED will not illuminate on the KP when pressed. Only option then would be to use a CP1 programmer that I suspect your dealer used when programming your new Radio Key.
If the keypad is faulty you should have this replaced as it is also the system overide in the event of lost/damaged Radio Keys etc.

Sigma Sam, I havn't done the above yet but I have noticed that the LED on the dash (next to the clock) usually flashes quite fast, but since this problem the LED flashes quite fast then slow flash then constantley on then fast/slow and so on. to me this is not right any more ideas........
Thanks

...er, no - baffled by that series of flashes it they are indeed from the LED next to the clock.
When does this occur - when you arm the system?
You sould find that when armed the LED flashes for 15 seconds(settle time), then brightly for 15 seconds (threshold time), then returns to the normal flash when fully armed.
The only deviation from this (other than when using the LED for programming feed-back) is a 30 second constant illumination when the system is disarmed (during which time the vehicle can be started) and the LED "latching on" for a second during the threshold time if movement is detected within the vehicle.
Let me know how you get on with the diagnostics in the previous post.

Sigma sam,
I have tried to do the diagnostic like you have suggested but to no avail. I am struggling with the bloody keypad. so I have contacted the engineer who programmed the fobs for me, He asked me if I had any work done on the car which my have disturbed something and to check the doors Bonnet and boot as this could trigger the alarmif not closed properley. I have not had any work done but whist I was on the phone to him i checked anyway. He then suggested that the ultrasonics may be the problem. I am now going to take it to a local alarm specialist to have a diagnostic done on it.
Will let you know the outcome..............
