Smile alarm central locking problem

Hi

I need to replace the solenoid/actuater which activates the central locking when disarming and arming the alarm and was told that I could get this from maplins.

is this the right part?

its a remote door lock interface.

cheers

Tom

no mate, it's this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ID=1&doy=30m11
But make sure it's faulty first, take off the door panel, unclip the wires to the old one and test as follows: get a 12v tester and when operating the alarm, one wire should pulse live when locking, and the other as unlocking when de-activating it. if this is fine and the cl doesnt work with the alarm then replace the actuator\motor

cheers for that but the central locking still works but it makes a horrible sound when locking the doors with the alarm. when I lock it using the key it is fine. thats why I think its the actuater/motor.

Maybe it just needs setting up, although they do make a louder noise than the o.e.m locking as they are universal and more powerful

Cool

My MY00 was doing exactly the same.... f**king what a noise it used to make.... like a ' EEEeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrcccccccccccch hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh k....' Used to vibrate through the car, horrible noise.... When I unlocked it and locked it off the remote only.... then again when driving down the road and the anti grab kicked in and locked the doors.... I put up with it for a few months... but then just got sick of it...!!!
Traced it down to being that part as shown above... located in drivers door...
Replaced it and now all is peaceful again... I had mine fitted which cost me all in all £15 quid, but I'm lazy...
When you take it off you'll tell straight away... get the old one in you hand and move it... it'll feel really rough, grinding and cruching, and then the new one... ahhhhhh, like a newen'... a nice & smooth action to it...
