Lightbulb Steering lock query.

Ok guys,

I've had my 03 WRX for two weeks now and I've noticed something odd.

When I take the key out of the ignition, there appears to be no OE steering lock. With all the other cars I've had, I've moved the wheel side to side and the cars steering lock clicks in. Not so with my scoob.

Any thoughts? Car was bought from a UK dealer, so is under warranty. Need to check out whether this is normal or not.

Thanks,
Nige.

Might sound a bit daft this, but on my 02UK STI, you need the main steering wheel bar to be vertical for locking (horizontal when driving straight).

The steering lock operates when the top of the wheel is at about the 7 o'clock position. You need to turn the wheel a long way !

It bugged me (MY03 WRX), until I asked on here about a year ago. Sorry I didn't spot your Q earlier
