Unhappy

Posted on behalf of a friend.

He has a MY01 with standard alarm (Sigma M30???) which has just started playing up - locking and unlocking using the remote fob now only has a 50/50 chance of working. New batteries have been tried. I'm sure it's not a mast problem because the car is parked in the same place it always has been!

Anyone had a "typical" problem, easily fixed? Or is this a alarm specialist job?

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

You can get a sheilded ECU fitted by the dealers.
It should be covered by the warrenty (if he has any left).

Another quick fix (I kid you not) is to stick the fob under your chin b4 pressing the button, this focuses the waves (apparently )

Red face

Ravster Posted this on my behalf

Under my chin - standing on my head - you name it I have tried it.

What I now find is that the only place the key fobs will work is when I hold them above the steering wheel and slightly towards the front windscreen - how wierd. Is there an Aerial on the Sigma M30. (Fitted to 5 door Impreza MY01)
If so where does it run from / to. I would like to check if for a doggy connection.
Thanks

JJD,
As per your other post - the Sigma manual is on its way.
IIRC the aerial is under the steering coloum (it is on my 99).
Probably a bit obvious, but have you change the fob batteries recently ?

Thumbs up

Yep - first thing that I did was replace the batteries in both unit - made no difference. I hace got the car booked into a dealers in a couple of months time - the guy I spoke to would not commit himself as to whether the alarm was covered under the three year warrantee.
