You can get blue LED's (along with turquoise, purple, pink, and pretty much every colour of the rainbow nowadays) from your local RS, Maplin, or whoever.

As for whether it'll work, you might have to find out the hard way, unless someone like Dr Clifford knows.

Blue LED's normally require greater forward voltage than red ones, so it may be that the standard Clifford LED driver wouldn't be enough to excite it. You shouldn't break anything by trying it though - just be certain to get the polarity right.

I think that the Clifford LEDs run on 2V IIRC

Wired a blue led to my piranha alarm, the standard red one was crap, this alarm has a forward voltage of 12v(to LED) with a current limiting resistor soldered to the led, so used the old resistor and soldered the blue led accordingly, observing polarity of course and checked the current needed compared with the old LED.

Looks like a strobe light at night, and makes it hard to look into the car as it is so bright at night!!!! Blue LED was purchased from maplins, they have a complete range, i put mine in a clear plastic type holder.

Even cooler is that you can get self adhesive elecro illuminesent strip now (red, green, yellow, blue)from E-Buyer , this stuff comes with a power supply that req's 12v to work. You could stick a strip of this stuff along the front of your dash and light up half the neigbourhood at night!!!Just a thought.

Only problem is that the LED on the clifford is surrounded by a plastic cover which is red. Not sure if you can get a blue or clear one of these the same size?

I think Max on here puts blue LEDs in the systems he installs so ask him how he does it.
