The SIDC have booked up Kames sprint track on Saturday 20th April.

Have to be there not long after 9am for registration. Costs £20 for as many runs as you wish during the day.

You generally do two or three laps at a time, with there being only you on the track at any time (there isn't enough room to overtake, so only one at a time). Lots of fun for very little money.

Also a very good social event as well, as everyone chats to each otehr whilst watching the cars going round, and waiting the few minutes for their next turn.

The weather in April may not be ideal for a BBQ, so I guess we'll go for a pub lunch so something

The track will be open until about 5pm.

You can go as fast or slow as you like, and no-one will care.

As you only do a few laps at a time, there is very little wear on tyres or brakes, as nothing gets really too hot.

If anyone is interested, simply send myself or the other John S an e-mail, and we'll look forward to seeing you there on the day.

You don't have to be a member to turn up.

John

Cool

I'll be there, as long as AVA manage to get the thing running smoothly on Saturday.
I assume there is no problem with taking the non-scooby on track?

Can someone please book some dry weather for the day

Robbie, I'll have my Red Scoob with me, but it might not be what I use , Neil I would imagine the numbers have to be kept to a reasonable figure, but barring that John S's usual criteria of selection will probably apply if there is a mad rush

John,

I would have thought having gotten special dispensation to continue to attend the regular meetings of the CSIDC, I would still be allowed to post on Scoobynet?

Especially, since my car was volunteered to be the safety car for the day!

(Or was that the safest car, because it's not able to go fast enough to get into any trouble? )

Question

You mean you've got to take a mind along that rules me out then

I'll be on track, just expect some stupidly slow times as I have not yet got used to no abs (big smoke from tyre moments ahoy) the brakes also seem to drag the back left forward, something not quite right me thinks

John , the escort is fixed and I did the Charterhall rally in it. Burst the radiator and blew head gasket again on stage 5. Was getting some good times up till then.

I wish I could afford a rally scooby !

Stuart, helmets are a requirement.

Not sure about petrol, you don't travel all that many miles on track, last time I had no probs making 3/4 tank do a return journey (Glasgow) & run on track for the morning (although I did get better mpg than I normally did from just road driving ) There are SUL stations just off the M74, someone else can probably tell you which ones.

Stuart, helmets are mandatory. If anyone needs to borrow I and others (I'm sure) will lend. You need to turn off J11 on the M74 (Southbound). Happily the most nothern garage selling optimax is 300yrds from here, Happindon Services. Fill up then just follow the signs for Ayr until you get to the village of Muirkirk (Kames is located here).
I wouldn't recomend turning up with less than 1/2 a tank as I get fuel surge on 1/2 tank in the lefthander.
