Cool

The missus came home with Bridgett Jones on DVD tonight and actually expected me to sit and watch it with her. Don't think so luv
Shortly after it starts, i decide to pop out and asks if she wants anything brought in. "Dairy Milk please" she says batting her eyelids. No probs says I.
Off i go out and as i get to the shops, my right foot starts itching.
Now usually when this happens, i take a blast to Forfar and back (Dundee), on the backroads but tonight was different...
Tonight i was in the mood of something different so i headed off in search of new territory, through town to the Perth road (spotted a grey Scoob fueling up at the BP, reggie *** PCB?), and on to Longforgan.
This is where the fun started.
The Longforgan to Tullibaccart road is fantastic. I've not been up it since i was about 6 in my dads car.
Sweaty palms and an elevated heartbeat along with a trancy CD playing and a light mist made for quite an exhillerating drive. The road is only wide enough for one car at a lot of points and plenty 2nd gear corners and blind crests.
This 6mile stretch is a chart entry at No1 in my top 10 roads
At the end of the stretch i made a left towards Cupar Angus. Wider road with better surface and sweeping corners makes for a quicker drive.
Upon reaching Cupar, i didn't fancy getting lost so i stuck to marked territory and headed in Perths direction.
The road straightened and the mist cleared so time for a change of tunes...in goes the uplifting house
This road just goes on and on and on. Barely a corner all the way to Perth. I can assure you it wasn't easy sticking to the speed limit
A canny drive through Perth let everything cool down and on the mystery tour went...
Next stop.......Crieff
Perth to Crieff is another cracking blat. Twisty as you like but with few suprises.
By now i'm running low on schnapps so a motorway return journey seems the best option (giving it karaoke to Jamiroquai)
Popping in at the Shell garage at Kenneth Melvilles for some go-juice and that all important King Size Dairy Milk
So if any of you Dundonians find yourself with £30 of petrol you don't want, i can't think of a better way to get rid of it

Paul,

Agree the Knapp road is a good un

Thank God you turned back towards Perth, you could have ended up in Blair and had the local Nova / Corsa crew thrashing along behind you

Round and round and round they go!

excellent drive

I love that road too... drive it about twice a week...
the Tully roads -- all over the hill.. are great...
the most interesting part of the daily commute... (i usually go via muirhead... but like coming back the knapp road after getting fuel)

on saturday... when i was going to town... followed two bikes... when we got to muirhead... they turned around and went back to do it again... grinning

I sometimes go over from inchture towards coupar angus... not quite as much fun... but is good..

some of that road from CA to perth is wide enough to be a runway me thinks

you should also try the low road from invergowrie, to the grange (where i grew up) to errol, to st madeows..

theres also a nice road from the grange to the horn bar... used to cycle it loads... its a bit like...

Thumbs up

Will no doubt give all those roads a try in the near future.
I've had enough of Angus, i know all the roads now. Looks like Perthshire is the new territory of choice

lol Al

Slapped? She'd try it once! I wear the breeks in my house! lol
I think she was better off with me out than sitting moaning at watching Bridgett Jones.
See you on Sunday mate...

The Dundee/Birkhill to Newtyle/Meigle then onwards to Coupar Angus then back to Dundee is a fantastic road for some enjoyable driving.

Plenty or straights to overtake and some good twisties. Tis my favourite.
