Have spoken to a number of staff at Shell garages over the weekend (Glasgow area). They obviously are aware of the new fuel but majority tell me they are going for product training at the end of March.
Do Shell not produce Optimax at Grangemouth? And why do forecourt assistants need training (no disrespect intended). At the end of the day it's the customers choice what he/she puts in their tank. The product alone should sell itself.
The staff at Hillfoot will need the training in how to sell it at 94.5p a litre without rubbing their hands together at the same time.
Scoty's tried some with good reports but he suggests some coca-cola and ice the next time!

All the petrol for Scotland and the North of Enger'land come out of Grangemouth.

Every tanker leaves with the exact same product in the hold....Shell, Q8, BP, Tesco...the only change is the additives that each company put in to change their product.

Optimax, AFAIK is distilled via a changed process and is produced at a Southern refinery and transported north

If your near Glasgow, go out to junction 12 on the M74, it's about 15 minutes outside of Glasgow, past Motherwell.

The Shell garage at that junction sells Optimax at 78p per ltr

Dave 172,
Scoty needs a geography lesson; it's "past" Motherwell. A long way past. Motherwell is junction 6.

He never specified which part of Glasgow (mind you I didn't think Motherwell was part of Glasgow either)

So Scoty, was this 15 mins by helicopter?

Hello Folks

It's 16.9 miles past junction 6 (Motherwell/Strathclyde Park).
If you go 17 miles, then you've past it
It takes 17 minutes from junction 6 to get to junction 12 on a clear road.(Could do it a lot quicker )
It takes 16 minutes to get from Glasgow city centre to junction 6, so it will take you 33 minutes to get from Glasgow city centre to junction 12 on the M74, road conditions permiting. Before anyone ask's , Georges cross at Glasgow city centre is the starting point.

Now when you are looking at the first picture below, it might be a good idea not to look at the Subaru, but to try and find something else, It starts with O......

Yum Yum

Exclamation

Obvious Drawback:
Distance to filling station: 30 miles (approx) so roundtrip = 60 miles, that's almost half a tank of petrol
