Default Visiting Scotland

My girlfriend and i are thinking about visiting Scotland next week for a few days.

I've not been since i was a child, so i have no idea where is best to visit, so i was hoping you guys and girls could help us decide. Also wondering what attractions can keep us occupied for a few days.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Chris

After hearing a few opinions on Edinburgh, we've decided to head there for a couple of days

Sorry guys

What about the Isle of Skye, lovely place and some facinating scenary, Maybe make Oban your first stop and then on up to Skye or i've heard Gairloch is very nice, and yes agreed Aviemore is lovely, quite a few watering holes as well

btw i tried the fish in Portree once and it was to die for, better than the crap you get served south of the border imo. oh and dont get me going on the Malt

What are you interested in and how far can you travel?
Shopping, sightseeing, history, culture, nature? It is all there.
Berwick on Tweed, Eyemouth, (fishing town) St. Abbs(was a fishing village before the industry was killed by government mismanagement) no pubs but a big nature recerve. Museum of Flight just off the A1 at East Fortune. Edinburgh. Drinking/Eating? Rose Street or The Grass Market. Walk The Royal Mile but allow a fortnight if you are having a pint in every pub. The Castle. Walter Scott Monument. Holyrood Palace and Park. The Museum, Chambers Street. Grey Friars Bobby. Shop on Princess Street or visit Corstorphin Zoo.
Forth Bridges, Crammond, South Queensferry.
Glen Kinchie Distillery off the A68 between Pathead and Pencaitland. Probably only two or three Lowland distilleries and this is probably furthest South.
If you are going to Mull or Skye allow a week but you will not be disappointed and North of Ullapool the red deer are as common as cattle. Eagles, buzzards etc.
if you like a drink you will be welcomed almost everywhere.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the info

We've booked an apartment in Edinburgh which is located in/near the city centre.

I'll be driving up in the Scooby (finding V-Power on the journey should be fun) also.
