Anyone off to the McRae Stages tomorrow??

Should be a good event as Colin is driving a MKII Escort ahead of the main field. Dad Jimmy is also out, in an Impreza 555 for a change from the Porsche.

Running further down is Nicky Grist (driving a Ford KA).

For those who dont know, the event is based in the borders around Peebles area.

Yes, I'll be there, as usual.
I think there's 7 or 8 Impreza's taking part. Brian Lyall may be using the WRC car again. Well worth going for that and McRae alone.

Well Lyall didn't use the WRC car, but he still won.
Great day out, and also got to the secret Stage 6. Best stage of the day.

 

Davie, where was stage 6? I heard that they've done this in the past cos they don't want speccies there.

My twin brother was up there he works for the company that runs the KA challenge and runs Neil Collins who has just taken the F2 championship in the ANCRO series. He spent the weekend with Nicky Grist and the McRea family

Stage 6 was about 15 miles North of Lockerbie, just off the old road that was the A74. We parked on the old hard shoulder, walked 200 yards into the stage. That was the stage finish, and as they had cleared out a lot of trees, we could see them coming for 1/2 a mile or so.
Don't know why it was a secret, as it had great parking off the road, and there was lots of people there.
