Alford Revisited - Sunday 18th June
#1
For those of you who were there last year, and remember how much fun we had - well we have been invited back again on Sunday 18th June
Each car club coming along will have it's own display area for all the cars, and all will be entered into a competition for the nicest looking car, and there will also be a Hi-Fi sound-off competition, based on sound quality as opposed to volume levels.
As well as this, the small sprint track will also be in operation the whole day, and you can make as many runs as you like for a small amount of money (It was £5 last year). I'm not sure whether they will be running the fastest car of the day competition again, where all the cars get timed around the track, but if they do, then I'm sure the Imprezas will do well again (they won, beating some cossies, TVRs and a Lotus Carlton!)
If you are thinking of coming along, then please let me know (you don't need to confirm), so that we can get a suitable sized area display allocated to us. Last year we outgrew our initial allocation, and had to get another group to move over
See you all there

John, is this the Alford in Lincolnshire? If so i'll try and make it. May well be a bit late due to brothers wedding day before though!! If it's not the Lincolnshire Alford, I won't be there. More details i.e. times etc would be appreciated. cheers pumpers.

John - I guess you'll post times & more info at some stage?
I can't wait. My first meet with you bunch of fanantical nutters! I hope to keep it on the black bit if at all possible...
MY00 5dr with "turbo 'L' plates" and no mods yet (apart from me' engine warmer - but that doesn't really count).
Keen to see peoples' mods to their cars (eg SS exhausts and air filters etc).

JohnS,
Some 'tick questions here ... sorry ... this is all new to me.
Sprint track - this is not a complete lap? - Is that correct? I went to watch a 'Sprint' at Aintree one time where they didn't complete a full lap.
You said 'small sprint track' - how small is small? I've been round Knockhill (backwards on a '''Rally''' day!).
I assume that I will need track cover?
I have done a search and Eggar Lawson seems to be mentioned quite a lot so maybe I'll try them?

Last year cars were doing two laps, each approx 1/2 mile in length. The track is just wide enough for one car.
Track insurance - I wouldn't bother, as you will be the only car on the track at a time. Not massive amounts of run-off area, but enough to get you out of any trouble. Just remember to keep off the grass
Mr Wax Wizard is currently off on the Gumball Rally, keeping all sorts of exotic cars clean and shiny during a week long trek through Europe. Mark will be at the Alford event himself.

I think we'll abandon the idea of doing something on the Saturday afternoon, as most people have other plans (something to do with getting a pass for the Sunday ).
Saturday evening is still a possibility, and the suggestion was for about 7:30 - 8pm in the Prince of Wales. I'll see how many people respond to this message, saying that they would like to come out for a few beers and a bit to eat on the Saturday evening, and we'll take it from there
