Anyone know where are Glasgow / Motherwell and surrounds I could get hand held sat nav at short notice - i.e. tonight or early tomorrow morning?

Thanks - Marky

Only place i can think that carry stock is Networx on the outskirts of Lanark 01555 666444.

I've bought both my origin units from them and not had any issues.

Ive been looking into sat nav as well ( assuming your thinking of car as well) and Tomtom Go is good but £499 from PC world it aint cheap. Either that or perhaps a PDA and Tomtom nav 3 and GPS reciever from same place PC world, or most GPS web sites too for about the same. I do have the Tomtom nav disc here but no PDA etc to test it with.
Actually reading this, was this any help at all ??? lol

Thumbs up

Got TOMTOM out of PC world - was going to get the medion one from Halfords, but TOMTOM has a little speedo thing I thought was too cute.

Gave it a try and it was pretty good - giving it to my mum so she travel country without worry.

To explain, she was going into glasgow on the mway - missed here exit for the city centre, paniced, kept going till somewhere she recognised - glasgow airport, turned off and ran out of petrol. No money, no phone, no AA card - luckily my tearful mother was rescued by a taxi driver who got her petrol and led her all the way back to glasgow - what a gent. Think she just lost the plot in a panic.............after all that- hence the TOMTOM You'll understand

I use TomTom 3 in my Ipaq and it rocks

Get an Ipaq off Ebay and a GPS receiver and you could be up and running in no time. Used mine to get to JAE and Santa Pod - even just local places etc...worked great up north too...amazing how helpful it can be - I also have all the speedcams in it so it warns u - and I have all the UK SHell garages too Can always find Optimax no matter where u be

Yep I have the FTO m8 and it is proper Carbon Fibre Project F Ltd Edition one.

I had a Snooper SR6 but it's pointless if you have the Ipaq up to date with the speed cam database (free online). And the radar bit was no good IMHO! So I sold it.

If you ONLY want to get the Ipaq for the Sat Nav then you can get an older model which will handle it admirably - and altho I have TomTom 3 original I also have a link to a backup with a wee serial number generator...

Dont Spose ya know how well Tomtom runs on the lower end of the Ipaq range ie Ipaq 1940, its a lower end one with a mere 266mhz clock CPU.
