does anyone know if there is any speed camera's on the a77 in the 40mph stretch of road?

I was wondering about that too. I've seen a few traffic police there now and again but just watching. Can anybody help or seen anything else?

I have heard from a copper that there are some "little black boxes" at the side of the road a few hundred yards apart that measures the speed of passing motors im not sure if they read license plates too... but i wouldnt think so

 

I have not seen any

If they want to make that road safer instead of speed enforcement they should split the cars up it is fookin scary sometimes

 

They have caught 600 speeders since they 40 went up so they must be there somewhere.
They sit in at the fenwick petrol station regular and the vans with the cameras in back are seen a lot.
I drive a truck up and down there a lot and you do see them.

I've never seen the static gatso type camera's on the A77.... however I was caught by the system that measures your speed over a known distance marked out by the white squares on the road.

 

VASCAR... you must have been followed by a cop car for that though!

 

they were sitting in a layby.....

 

The Speed Camera van at the motorshow is seemingly used on the A77. The PC there said that was his normal operating area. So I suppose they are not there this week.

 

Camera vans sits in the layby under the Fenwick hotel and at the Floak roadend further towards Glasgow.

well from the replies , i kinda feel better....first few times going back to and from ayrshire always traveling about 50 ish (still being over taken mind you ) but one morning (2-am), last week, heading north bound to glasgow......was a little tired forgot about the 40mph limit and zoomed half way through at 70mph......when i realised i slowed right down but was worried just incase there were camera's out there........so if its the van the police uses then i should be ok.....only a week to go....fingers crossed....!!!!!

well i can confirm the one after the fenwick hotel, i was done two weeks ago on the first day,to be honest i didnt notice the 40 signs,(i was doing 62)to make maters worse i was in my wifes xantia as the scoob has been sold!! have had a clean licence for 13 years,and in that time have had some fast cars,and never been stopped,the last time i was done was in a 2cv ffs!!! i feel agrieved, but have held my hands up i shouldnt have been speeding,but as the signs now say it is for the safty of the workmen i cant help wondering what the 4ft concrete barrier is for!!!
