Question

the macbig one?

Why not somewhere near Dundee so as the northern boys and girls can come along as well?

Cool

drb5, u might get a better response if the title of the post was a bit more concise, instead of the REALLY vague one u`ve used

Crush m8 u dont get a vote u fanny.
What`s missing from the title is "MAC BIG 1 VENUE, ONLY SCOOB DRIVING ATTENDEES VOTE" as it is an event organised for scoobs. (Even though other vehicles may be allowed, but have to park away from the scoobs in order to get the pix right)

BTW Crail it is for me Been to Kames and IMHO the runoffs on the track aint big nuff before the barriers (i.e. comming off track at a reasonable rate is gonna cost a few £££ in body work, especially in a "tarty" mota)

So deff a Crail vote from me. Spose i would say that seen as i`ve done all the leg work in trying to aquire that venue
Seen as its relatively close to Dundee i`d imagine that`ll be another vote for Crail from Craig Mac21 as well

Pete

Another one for crail peeps - provided we manage to get some timing equipment etc too.

One question - what happens to the price if we get more people than expected? Do we use that money to get the timing? Do we use it as discount for the Sunday? Does the overall price come down???

Thats obviously only relevant if Crail is chosen as a venue.

What's the price likely to be for Kames?

Post 17 (thats page 4 post 17) Or r u jus no keepin up2 speed
I`ll talk to Willie again just to finalise some stuff

What I do know though is the running of the strip is a significant expence. If we`re running the event as a track day (probibly the least expensive way, as not so many staff required) and providing Willie agrees to let us have the facility for the FULL day & camp over if needed. Security would be a small extra expence as would BBQ etc. So wer`e looking at needing a guestimate of approx £1000 in the pot Of which the folks who want to participate in the "track day" part of it would contribute the greatest part.
Non participents would only need pay a minimal fee of say £2 - £3 to make up the deficite. In effect we need £875 just for the site, how we achieve this is entirely upto ourselves and anything over would be used to reduce entry cost on the Sunday Fast Car mag
event.

Obviously I am trying to reduce the cost of this as much as possible, but the more events, facilities required then the more the cost will be.

On assumtion that Crail is the agreed site!

Kames IMHO will attract more cars from the south. Crail will attract more cars from Vauxhall!!!

NBO was a meet with NO car action and it still pulled in over 400 scoobs. I think that is something we are aiming for, albeit with some little tweaks which I feel will ease introductions etc.

Keep thoughts coming people.

Wodda ya mean
No car events at NBO? Yeah but don`t we wanna try 1 better?
Don`t we have more participants than polishers up here?
No doubt we could get a site where nothings doing but would it be the same ?
Personnaly I couldn`t care less where it is, all i know is that I`ve did what i promised the Scottish Subaru community what I would and that i`m really keen to see this thang come together b 4 it`s too late. (song mode on in Elvis voice) "A little less conversation, a little more action, PLEASE"

BTW Stats time
Population of England 50,000,000
Population of Scotland 5,000,000
10:1 ratio
Attendance at NBO (from memory) 400
Listed attendants for McBig 1 after only 1 week 40.

Official name of event "Mc Big 1"

Translator indeed
Right i`m off 4 some zedz

Kames
I suppose the run off areas are a bit limited at some points around the track, particularly for folk who are used to driving ¼ of a mile up a straight track!

Dougster,

Quote: "Kames IMHO will attract more cars from the south".

Isn't the point on being the McBig 1 the fact that we need to have cars from Scotland?? I'm up for either event personally but you have to remember that some peeps who live in scotland may still have to travel 300+ miles to get to Crail which is quite a distance!

Shouldn't we be looking after our own? No offence to you guys down south but it's supposed to be a Scottish event.

Just worth noting.

I thought it was another event similar to NBO but held in Scotland.

Don't see it happening this year though.

As for venue I asked for peoples preferences. I gave mine.

If it is Crail I will be there. Just like I was at NBO.

Again if it is Crail how about a SNet golf challenge for those staying over and bored of 1/4miles?

Bet you I could hit a drive down the strip faster than anyone!

Doug,

We`ve all seen u hit things with u r driving m8, so we`re in no doubt at all
But serious 4 a minute, like u i don`t care where it is or when it is all i`m caring about at the moment is that "it IS going to happen" U, me and the other Scottish reps did the trip to NBO for the crack and atmosphere IMHO it was well worth it. We could tell that it was well organised as it went like clockwork ( a testiment to Lordy, Ninnybobs & the rest of the organisers). I would not like to see this thing rushed together (although it can be done) which is what I think your also saying
Mail me u r landline number m8 n I`ll bell u L8r so we can chew it a bit

DJD, bit of a handbegger there eh BTW we`ve never seen u on any of the Glenshee runs yet m8

Pete I have never hit anything with my car! The field hit me!

Yes, you have picked up correctly what I was saying. This may be talked about for some time and a good bit of organisation needs to go into it. Don't want it to be rushed and we are left with 3 blokes and a renault(you know who you are! ) in a McDonalds car park.

Do we leave it till next spring or go for Sept. or Oct. holidays This might get more families along as was the case at NBO.
We have a weather factor to look at. I don't really want to be freezing my nuts off at Kames or getting blown off my feet at Crail.

NBO was totally free. It was up to the individual if they went into Lightwater Valley Theme Park. I had great fun in there but I wanted to see more scoobs and meet more people. (Remember I was working!! )

Wherever, and whenever the Scottish event takes place I want to be a good one. I also think all the girls should wear tartan mini-skirts!!

did you guy's come up with anything? i'd like to try and get my view's across to. we really should(as i'm sure you both and everyone else realises) get this sorted out asap and as me and doug are both off this week, we could do some damage on the scottish front.

TP,
Was up through Glenshee on Saturday, didn't see you there though. Nice drive, nice scenery, not many 1/4 mile straights though, are they off the main road?

The Airfield circuit at Crail was good fun. It's just if you don't want any chips on your paintwork...look elsewhere! The surface was pretty rough with stones flying up all around (Bit closer to a rallycross circuit!)

Dunno if Willie has spent any cash on the circuit since he got MSA approval.

Just my tuppence,
