perth police really are a joke .ive been pulled again for my plate .they were going the other way and turned around to get me. now my plate is full size with full size letters ,only change is the last letter has a double space. this is the 3rd time this has happened.i wasnt speeding .i wasnt in town .just driving down glasgow road.

i know its been said a million times before but surely they have something better to do.they have confiscated my front plate again so now im running no front plate. does that mean the back ones next or what!!!!

well f*** them ,there getting their fine in 1p's this time and ill be putting my plate back on. f****** to$$ers

on top of that they can wait till the 28th day at 455pm!

You sound like you are full of joy tonight

I once had the corners slightly rounded off on a 'B' on my plate
A mate heard them (on a scanner) check for plate 84 PMG.... came back as a BMW motorcycle and not the mondeo I had @ the time. I had parked up for the night but apparently they circumnavigated(sp) Blair that night for a couple of hours until someone thought to try B4
Never did get pulled for it though

my brother gor abuse for his plate - coppers went nuts about it. He has a similar plate to me (his name is Dave) and it was spaced same as mine

mine is MRO 881E and I had it spaced M RO881E but after Dave's abuse I put legal ones on... for now anyway!

My letters are all spaced ok, it's just the plate that small.
300x90mm if i remember correctly.

It's in a normal font too, so it is easily read..

Who knows..i'll just chance it for now..or will i ?

i expect them to find better things to do thats what!!!!!!!!!

there are much more serious things going on but they take the easy option to keep the kitty topped up. if they did some real work like catching car thieves then maybe the likes of us wouldnt have to pay so much for insurance.but that would be too much like hard work.

also i have plates on my wifes car (micra) thats a 100 times worse than the subarus and i use her car more than mine and they never bat an eye at it.so why is this?

Ive decided it's not worth the bother, guaranteed pull round here. As I said before I had the proper font and proper spacing, only difference was the front plate being 20% smaller and I lasted 2 weeks before getting a producer.

On my previous car I got a plate with my initials and had to space it illegally to make it look decent, needless to say had to change it back to standard. That's why I bought a WRX plate for the Impreza cos it looks decent when done legally (although smaller front plate was too tempting ).

Small world... seen it around the town in Greenock, I stay about 10 mins drive from the town.

Yeah I have a dark blue mica scoob with WRX plate, slightly smaller one on the front used to be noticably smaller but that's the one I got pulled for.

Seen it around? Haven't been using it much lately I've got another car for running around in, got pulled and a ticking off last week for booting it away from traffic lights so it's keeping a low profile but will probably be out in it this weekend sometime (not tomorrow night cos I'll be blitzed!).

What you got in mind for a Scoob?

Yeah mate that's me, so you have noticed it around

When I was looking for one I scoured all the online sources (autotrader.com, exchangeandmart.co.uk, Scoobynet etc) and spent a few months looking at what was available. I'm quite fussy about buying cars right down to the colour I'd take etc, and was ideally looking for a MY98> because the interior is much better.

Ended up seeing an advert on here for a pretty mint DBM scoob, phoned the guy a few times and finally going to Stevenage (800 mile round trip!) to have a look, test drive etc. That was the car I bought and I'm well happy with it. If you intend to keep the car a few years it's well worth being prepared to travel for your ideal one cos every used car is different, and spending a day travelling plus £150 hire car + petrol is nothing really.

If I see ya around in the saxo I'll give ya wave, just hope it ain't the missus driving she might think i'm coming on to her (maybe that's a good thing ).

Paul.

Re : Plates

I think the trouble generally comes when you start messing with the spacing of the letters. Mine is small but spaced properly. Haven't had any bother with mine.

Say my plate has 5 chars on it space legally with legal letters so it's like ** ***. I have loads of white space to the left and right of the letters and numbers, can I cut this space down or not?

Mickle, yeah there only needs to be a certain space around the letters, like 1cm or something (can't remember the exact figure just now). My plate is like that, and that's the one that was checked at a MOT station after I got a 21-day producer for my original smaller plate.
