No, insurance is available at a reasonable cost but it carries a £1000 excess !
You'd have to do some serious damage to that car to run up a £1000 bill.
We hire it on a 'you break it, you buy it' basis.

It is a great little car, the noise, the acceleration, the handling - Just do it !
Or maybe not, cos if you hire it I won't be able to - Don't do it !

'You bend it - you mend it' more like. I don't ask you to 'buy' it if you break it, just fix it again!
Also, you don't pay for mechanical gremlins not attributable mis-use. Said from the position of having the gearbox spread across the garage floor

You'll find most track day policies, such as Competition Car Insurance, don't work on a total write-off basis.
As a minimum, the insurer would want you to subtract the value of the engine and transmission from the total value of the car on the basis that it should be 'recoverable'. You'd also probably want to look at the value of other potentially 'recoverable' items such as wheels, tyres, brakes, seats, instrumentation, shox etc. On this basis, you wouldn't insure the total value of the car, only the cost to rebuild. This is fine with cars like the Westfield where everything is replaceable, including the chassis, but could be problematic with 'proper' cars where the rebuild cost could be greater than the value of the car.
However, you may also find you can insure on track by extending your own 'road' policy, in which case it's just standard terms. It's likely though that the excess would increase to £1K though.
