Any Edinburgh meets?
You just beat me to that, Glasgow meets are great if its this side of M8 but a bit out the way if its the far end of Glasgow.
Come on I see loads of Scoobs in or around Edinburgh bound to be a meet or 3.
Alternatively , how about a nuetral site for both the Glasgow and Edinburgh crowd....Falkirk? Livingston?

Yip me too. I could travel to the Falkirk area no probs.
I was trying to arrange regular Glasgow meets, but I'm still at the early stages so this could be a solution for us all. The replies should give us a feel for what the majority are thinking, Hopefully! Refer to the Glasgow meets to see if there are any updates on that thread incase anyone misses this one.

Well it depends on how hard you train. Most students will not make black belt as its too tough and you need to be committed. A lot that do make black belt then think they are the mutts nutts and give up soon after with 'nothing more' to learn
In truth the 4/5 year progression to black-belt is all preparation as black belt is where the real learning begins
My instructor is a 'Pu Sab anim' (spelt as it sounds) and he's been doing kuk sool for something like 15 years. He'll probably get his next dan which is 'Sab anim' within a year or so. After that you become a master (I think) but it really does take a while and depends on your committment. Our instructor lives and breaths it so he'll get there quick - others might take longer, most will never get there.
I realise we're way off topic here but I didn't want you to think I spout off about stuff I know nothing about. The truth is I know nothing of kuk sool but its pretty breathtaking when you see what black-belts and above can do. It can also be quite amusing to see how quickly and perfectly they can find pressure points and reduce you to a whimpering mass that would do anything to stop the pain
But most of all, it's just fun to wind up our sash and slipper wearing kung fu bozo also known as Sipie

I'd be up for an edinburgh meet. We've not had one in a while and the weather is good these days

Nah thats not me mate. A week ago on a night out a fairly stocky guy was walking towards me eyeballing me. He started to slowly vere into my path and I could tell he was going for the old shoulder knock trick followed by 'what the **** do you think you are doing' I was sober and felt that I could have held own against him but it was far easier to smile and just move out his way thus defusing the situation.
Technically we're not of topic
We could have a scoobynet Edinburgh meet and make a ring from our cars. We then take it in turn to beat lumps out each other under the headlights in 'fight club' fashion. We could even whap on sipie's PIAA's to blind the fighters

[steers topic back on course]
I'd be up for an Auld Reekie meet if one ends up being organised
Or the earlier suggestion of somewhere central (i.e. Falkirk) suit me fine too
Sounds like I'll need to bring my pyjamas though?

Takes *probably at least* 15-20 years to become a Master

I must go and consult my Hong Kong Book of Kung Fu

Point taken mate and just good to see someone so enthusiastic about something they enjoy......
The only moral nonsense
I would say to you at this point is that you are constantly learning and the Black Sash 4th and 5th degrees where I trained knew that they were only beginning to learn properly
I would hate for you to turn into a mass ego who thought they were hard as nails cos they knew how to do hand block A/B and C.
These are the types that tend to have the gobs to start trouble.... the egos and a tiny bit of knowledge that instills false confidence to think they can deal with it..... and are inevitably the ones who find out the hard way that street fights are a totally ugly and different ball-game to anything they have learnt in any class...and get seriously and unnecessarily hurt.
Be humble and all that stuff
Can anyone take us more off topic here
