Question

Does anyone know how to get off of the M8 westbound to get onto the 'Great Western Road' (A82?)?

Is there a nice and easy sliproad?
Junction number?

Phil

You want to take the A82 turn off, Pretty sure its junction 15. It pretty cleary marked I am sure and the motorway is four lanes at that point. The A82 lane is the left hand lane. The short slip road off takes you to a t-junction and you turn right and that brings you straight onto Great Western Road.

Phil,

Keep an eye out for Stow College on your left (tall, narrow, red-brick building), the slip road's right after it. As Iain said, it's clearly marked.

If travelling from the east (Edinburgh) its junction 17, not junction 15 as stated above.

If travelling from the west (Kilmarnock/Paisley) its junction 18 leaving on the 1st junction after crossing the Kingston Bridge.

As Caz said J17, and at the traffic lights it is a right (sign posted Dumbarton), just plant yourself in the right lane (the left one disappears after a few hundred yards (this is naturally assuming you are approaching from the east).

I would say it depends where you are going Phil.

I stay just off the A82 in Old Kilpatrick but coming home I just head down to Clydeside Expressway and head along Dumbarton Road.

Happy hunting!

Is the A82 best for that?

Not taking the scoob tho... not sure of the area...

How long does it take to get to Loch Lomond?

'The Drum' Make sure you don't leave your car for long!!

Loch Lomond is 15 mins from there, and yes A82 is good for Drumchapel

I would still come down to Expressway then back up to A82 via Anniesland Cross and Crow Rd. Saves you coming through all the lights and traffic at the Glasgow/Partick end.

maybe i had better take the scoob... at least i will then have a compass

Dougster
is 'The Drum' that bad then?
Not some place to leave my scoob? or a normal car for that matter?

Is the alternative route easy to follow?

Thanks Dougie

I stayed in the Drum for 23 years, never had a problem with car security, as most of the Drum has been pulled down and getting rebuilt now

Neil, I've seen your cars remember!!!!!

Not saying it's all bad. I have worked on a few projects in my time in certain poorer areas of Drumchapel. I defo did not like taking my car in there. Looks like a pimps car at the best of times and I was more popular than the ice-cream van!!

P.S. remember I'm a Social Worker
