Why do we never see any Skylines at Knockhill ?
Is it because their typipical owner is into; RR measured BHP, 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times only ?
Maybe that's it ! ... or maybe they can't drive ? ... or maybe their cars don't like corners ?

It's because they are so fast that it would be dangerous for our lethargic scoobs to be on track at the same time.
You could check your mirror at the bridge, it may be clear but by the time you brake for duffus, a Skyline could be right up behind you They are THAT fast !!! In fact, nearly as fast as an EVO !!

Errr, cos this is a Subaru Board, and your precious trackday was not promoted outwith it
AND, If I recall correctly you lot got all uppity at some of the Skylines on track at a Knockhill event last year
AND, The Skylines who registered a early interest in the same event last year found out (practically) the night before the event, that they were not on the list to run. Only a few other cars not turning up ensured their attendance.

Hay gays, the SKYLINE is far much higher class than IMPREZA/MIS evo.
the SKY is 6cly twin turbo & far much h-tec. too much to list.
At the FAREAST , they now call it the KING of the street racing .

Numptie,
we did in fact have one Skyline (Big Sly!) booked up to take part. Unfortunately he had to pull out due to mechanical problems. Another one on Saturday was only a possibility, but couldn't attend due to work commitments.
We've had several Skylines on track in the past (Keith and Charlie spring to mind), and they haven't been a problem. Also had Dave Jones' Hyper Lemon skyline twice at our events.
Jason - no-one has said anything to me about the skylines not being welcome participants ?
With regards to the event last year - I simply hand't received any booking forms or payment from any Skyline owner, and by the time we found out about it the event was already fully subscribed with a reserve list. Thankfully a few people dropped out and they were able to take part
I for one will happily welcome any SKylines to take part at future events

well numptie you did not see my skyline on track because it is up for sale and did not want to tempt fate. i left it at home but i still came down from aberdeen to watch you guys.
if it dont sell this week i will be back to knockhill next month
on a track day.
as for me not being able to drive well i wone the saloon car champ
down south in 1992/1993 and have raced at knockhill many many times
with a 16v astra lapping at around the 60 sec per lap.
gave motor racing up because the cost to run a winning car
all i will say is watch your mirrors

Keith I'm working night shift this week
Were you doing Knockhill XR2 challenge cars in 95/96 when I was racing the Cossie ? or was that a different Cowie ?
Agree with you re the cost of 'proper' racing, £125 for 10 laps not exactly good value for money Then those over efficient scrutineers, I was pulled up once for my number plate letters being too small Used to love winding them up though, driving into the scrut' bay in a race car with the radio blasting

no Alan that was a Ian Cowie nothing to do with me.
I raced way down south most of my racing was at Lydden hill
won everything 92 and 93 over 40 trophies to show for it.
I think I still hold the record for the road car around there.
I done ok with my fiesta then sold it and bought a 16v astra spent over £25000 on it first time out set it on pole at brands hatch and won the race well happy.
moved back to scotland with it thinking i had the car that was going
to win everything . how wrong was i.
3 engines went bang big time.broke a driveshaft smashed the dog box,
then it caught fire going into the hairpin at knockhill
to do the 6 races 1993 that car cost me over £6500 when it caught fire was the day i gave up motor racing.
sold the car then Keith McCaskill bought it and he raced it down south till he had a big crash with warren in the pink nova that Keith raced also.
the cosworth that falkland raced was my old car as well
that was the old firestone car that mark hales won the championship with.

The lap times were before the track was smoothed off a bit, I believe it is about a second faster now.
Back then we were running about 61 seconds on regulation goodyear road tyres with standard turbo's. Decent Yokohama road tyres were about a second faster and slicks were worth another 1.5 seconds. I think Kevin currently runs low 57 seconds now with approx 500bhp

The snowy Knockhill was for a magazine article.....the days when 'fast car' used to feature fast cars
I sold the car as Falkland made me a decent offer for it ! It had won the championship so another year of the same didn't hold the same challenge for me....... Just as coming 2nd for another season didn't quite fit with being "Scotlands No1 tuner"
Still preferred the handling of the cossie, wet or dry. At least you were sure what it would do as you gave it throttle

Keith,
Like we were saying last time at Knockhill though m8, that thing isn`t a grocery getter though is it ? It`s a definate weekend only car & even then u`d still have to rebuild it every couple of weekends Or alternatively you could just hoof it round on a flatbed and save on rebuilds and fuel
Pete
