Right, as some of you may know....

i think i blew my turbos on the supra....

I put it into the local garage to get them to confirm this!

Them came back to me today with,

We think its an ECU fault.... as the turbo isnt doing anything

BUT

what was cause an ECU to not spin up a turbo and spit oil out the back!

If the shaft/blades were gone, the turbo wouldnt create any boost would it! and if a seal was gone..... the OIL!!

All i wanted them to do was get a look into the turbos and find out for sure! But they didnt even take the heat sheilds off

Looks like im going to just have to slap it over to Greer or MV and get them to sort it out

 

You may want to consider Jim at Star performance in Glenrothes ?
They specialise in VW/Audi normally but have been doing a fair bit of Jap stuff lately, turbo conversions ETC.
Bonus is that you can get a rolling road run to prove all's well

Andy - do you think an ECU prob could cause the above symtoms?

 

If it was the ECU at fault then I would expect to see low boost (not no boost) and defo no blue smoke !! If it was dense black smoke it could be the ECU overfueling

 

Id recommend Marc at The Garage as he has worked on this type of car before, it also had problems with its turbos being shafted!! Give him a ring and he should be able to sort you out.

Been in contact with Marc already (i think he's still gutted i beat his skylin eon the 1/4 !!! hehheh, once anyway ) just wanted to hear other folks opinions on The Garage before doing anything!

Im in no rush to bodge anything up

the intake fins on the 1st turbo are there



but cant exactly see the rest quite yet..... going to pop it into STAR see what there banter on it is!

 

pull of the wastegate hoses so no control from ecu if it doesnt boost then you know turbos are fcucked but be carefull it doesnt overboost

 

things MAY be looking up..... i think i've found a set of used j-spec turbos for 200squid to tide me over and get me mobile

i'll then send the ****ed ones on my car at present away to be hybrid'ised
