Kames double header
#1
Was back down at Kames on Sunday with the SS-R club and they had a good turnout of 17 cars. Meant having to queue longer though. Weather was great and track was bone dry. Managed the most runs (surprise, surprise). Mind you that was only 11 so far off my record of 34 at an SIDC event earlier in the year. With a time of 96.15 I managed to beat my best SIDC time of 96.52 but still not as good as your best time John. Getting closer though, less than a second now. Most runs were with passengers and had a great laugh burning rubber off an old nearside rear I put on for the day. Good selection of cars turned up and the next fastest was a Nissan Sunny GTI-R at 97.84 and Stephen Harvey in his Subaru WRX managed third fastest with 99.48. Looking forward to the next SIDC Kames event on the 1st September.

Thanks to John Stevenson, Stan and everyone else who helped organise
As usual, I had an excellent time
The weather let us down a bit today, but it was still fun trying to get those lap times down in the wet...
Hope you all enjoyed camping over - kinda wish I had now, but the run to and from Kames was worth doing twice in two days...
Thanks also to Chelle, Crush and Iain (and.. did I miss anyone?) for the passenger laps.
Iain - next time if I take you out, I'll try to keep it on the track rather than attempting the RallyX stuff
Cheers all

Great weekend and thanks to John, Stan and everybody else.
Loads of track time. shortish queues, mainly dry weather and great company. Really enjoyed my runs with Chelle and Rich. The 22B just feeels like a beast inside, some amount of grunt. Great fun with Rich on his fast run with at least three rally stages thrown in for free.
Was glad to get the chance to better my times in both directions over the two days. The rain slowed me down but after quite a few runs managed to get the fastest wet weather time on my very last run before the gates were closed over and the Subarus hemmed me in to stop me getting back out again!!!
Thanks again everyone Iain

Just to like echo the thoughts of my fellow Midland vistors.
Very organised, a top night camping and some great fun slippy and slidding round the circuit
Certainly a good way to get some circuit time without the expense of a full blown track day. Enough understeer to sink a ship later on at the hairpin.
When's the next date?
I've got various digital photo's to upload soon and I'll see what's come of the SLR films I shot.
Them photo's are great Iain
Cheers,
Chris.

Glad you enjoyed it Chris
Found out that Slider had only a slightly longer journey than me to get to Kames (about 200 miles), so there's no excuse for people living in the midlands/north not to come any more
The next event is on Sunday 1st September. Not sure if there will be camping permitted overnight on the Saturday, but I'm sure it could be arranged if necessary.

A big thanks to the organisers for a good weekend, camping with beer and camp fire was good fun and a good laugh
i managed to better my times as well which was a bonus, still not as quick as the scooby's but what the hell its all about a wee bit of cheap motorsport fun

I'd just like to chip in with another big thankyou to John, Stan and everyone else who helped organising what was a great weekend.
All three of us enjoyed ourselves rotten, especially Louie who flatly refused to miss out on any passenger laps
I'm also happy to report that I got the tyre fixed at Kwik-Fit today for the princely sum of 6 quid (Who still aren't sure if Scottish money is legal in England )
Now that I've had the chance to look at the times, I've calculated that my fastest lap was also my "magic lap" (where your three best lap times are added together), which was rather nice, as it did feel right at the time Did anyone else achieve their magic lap time, or am I the only one sad enough to work it out ?
#16
Worked out my magic lap times and was only 0.09 from achieving it on Saturday and 0.27 on Sunday. Still not enough to get into the 85s anti-clockwise or 95s clockwise though Must get some more practice!!!
Video of track came out well, especially clockwise. Here is a still from the video.

Bit of a better post from me about this LOL
Big, BIG thanks to John Stevenson and everyone else involved for taking the time and effort to organise all of this for us.
I was surprised at the small turnout!!!!
Needless to say I am so glad that I managed to make it up That was my first ever time on Kames with a best time of 97.69 on the Sunday before it started raining.
I am positive I could have shaved more tenths of seconds off that time
The BBQ was great, both days were great even though our midlands party turned up at the end of the Saturday
Fantastic meeting up with everyone as always - Iain thanks for taking me out in the Smartie, Tut THANK YOU for letting me drive your beastie , Crush and Rich thanks for the paxes and of course to John Stevenson who showed me the sideways version of taking a car round track
I hope to be coming up again soon
Michelle.
