Is it just me or are there rapidly decreasing numbers of Super selling petrol stations. I am now down to just 2 within a 10 mile radius of my home, and one of those has told me that myself and two other mates who drive Scoobs are the only ones who buy it now. I can't believe I am going to have to start running it on the cheap stuff. Is this happening elsewhere or is it just here in Derbys. How the hell do WRXs cope.

Garages are definitely dumping SUL in a big way. I've been travelling around the country recently, visiting Penzance, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Lancaster to name but a few, and have found SUL very hard to find. In my case, I've recently traded the Scooby for an Evo 6 (I know, boo hiss), so SUL is mandatory.

The only stations that always have it are Shell, but most sites are now down to just the one pump.

The South East seems to be the only place where SUL is not difficult to find. Every petrol station near me sells it, Total, Texaco, Shell, BP, you name it, they've got it. I guess it's down to the South East having a higher concentration of cars that need SUL.

The garage in Penzance where I used to buy my SUL, said that he just didn't sell enough of it to warrant stocking it. It would take him about 6 months to sell a tank full, and by that time, the fuel has deteriorated to the point that it's not really 'Super' at all.

My local station has just renewed there pumps and they all now do Super. I have another 10 stations within a few miles but none do super.

Have to say that in the south west I find SUL very expensive and rarely available. I travel past 5 petrol stations on my way work and none of them sell SUL. The stations that do sell it charge mid 80's p/l often.

I don't think that SUL is getting rarer or scarcer, but i was _disgusted_ to find that SUL was ELEVEN POINT FIVE pence per litre more expensive than NUL at a Total garage on the A5 near Oswestry today. If anyone from Total is listening - i will _never_ buy fuel from your garages ever again (and i didn't buy today either!) due to this blatant rip-off.

Sadly the Esso a few miles down the road was completely out of SUL, but i managed to find a Shell garage in town to fill up.

Just keep your eyes open when you hit one quarter full!

I wonder if it would be worth buying the premium crap and adding octane booster, problem is i've got no idea how much it costs or lasts.

My local Total petrol station (opposite the Renault site in West Swindon) has the cheapest SUL in Swindon at 78.1/litre.

I have no problem getting SUL in the
oldham area where i live.
cheapest 76.9 at a total garage.
I have a 94 wrx which i have run on SUL
for the past 12 months and the 12 months
before that i ran on normal UL and using
wyn's 10+ octain boost (cost £4.25)per full
tank of petrol.
To be honest to anybody reading this I have
ragged the **** of my car using both fuels
and never had any problems or felt any
difference in power.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP WORRYING AND JUST DRIVE THE GOD DAM CAR.

I am disgusted that someplaces are selling SUL for so cheap, you're lucky to find it under 88p here! Also sparkplug I know what you mean, my mate says there is no difference between running his Impreza on premium or super. My problem is I'm on a Legacy turbo, and I know for a fact that it goes better on super (have tested up a big hill!). Thanks for replies chaps I'm now moving to Swindon.

please dont laugh, but my old my00 seemed to run BETTER on normal unleaded! ops:
honestly! seemed impossible to get sul near where i live, so gave up in the end and put normal in. no probs whatsoever

what really gets me is the same garages that charge 85.9 for SUL, charge 76.9 for LRP which is taxed at the same rate and essential just SUL with lots of car killing or preserving additives

It doesn't help much, but Leeds is ok, too. 2p a litre more expensive that NUL last night (77.9p on the Esso Kirkstall Road)
