Default downpipe lambda removal?

My lambda needs changing in top of downpipe on v5 sti.
The downpipe is only 4 years old but looks very rusty around the sensor . I've had a little go at getting it out today with a big 22mm spanner but it didn't budge.
Do you think the downpipe could actually break before the sensor comes out if I start using scaffold poles or the like on the end of the spanner?
Has this happened to anyone?
Simon jgm actually turned the sensor off when he mapped it and said he'd switch it back on when I had the chance to change it.
Its a cobra downpipe so would think decent quality metal.cheers

Worst That will happen is threads will strip but there always tight a lambda socket and long half inch bar will do the trick

Give the car a run to get the down pipe warmed up, this should help you get it loose.
