What does your sti uk or spec d show on the log book? Looking at a car that's listed as an sti uk however I've done a mycarcheck and it comes up as wrx sti it doesn't say spec d or sti uk.

Also its on a private reg which is AN03 CAM which when put into go compare comes up with sti spec d...however if you put the original reg which is RV06 CPZ it comes up with two options..spec d and sti uk. On the log book it just says wrx sti ? Don't want to pass it up if it's a genuine car.

Also silver or grey? It says grey on the log book. Buying used cars is a minefield.

Log books aren't always accurate anyway, it's the chassis number you want to go off

Is the one in question, but to look at it it just looks like a STI UK.

The two pink results on the vehicle check stand out to me, not bothered about private reg change but what about the " insurance write-off " section.

Another thing is, why when i check any other STI Type UK they come up as silver, but this one comes up as grey :/, I dunno It just seems off to me.

Yeah the spec D came in grey..but didn't the hawkeyes just come in silver ? Which worries me as this comes up as grey when you put the vehicle checks in. Been stung by a dealer before I really don't want it to happen again, hopefully somebody whos clued up with STI UK/Spec D can advise me.

That will be standard autotrader fill in garble when you put the reg in.

Just found this on another forum (old post) http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=370076

But when i put that reg in it comes up as a WRX STI grey too, so maybe it is a legit car after all ?

Was looking at blobs but they are strong money, and personally think the front end on the hawk just looks a bit more modern, if there was a blob at the right money I would of bought one.

Think that's a normal sti type uk. Reasons: has all the spoilers, fog light covers which spec d doesn't. It has different interior & no sat nav wot not thing, different radio. Wouldn't have thought somebody would buy a spec d and then go to all that trouble to make it look like normal type uk?

Yeah after a bit of research (putting other registrations into checks/insurance websites) I came to the conclusion it is a proper STI UK, mileage is a bit steep for me though I think its on 65k nearly 66k.

It is not a Spec D.
Or if it was, it has been modded not to be one.
If it is what you want, go for it.
The difference between an STI and a Spec D is pretty much purely styling alone.

Only 2 things holding me back at the moment :

1. Mileage - not overly bothered as it will be being forged anyway
2. The mycarcheck result shows " Insurance write off : This vehicle may be recorded as a write-off, however, as it has undergone a plate transfer further investigation is required, please call 0844 482 1950 "

Not sure what to think of that, Its had the original reg, then a private reg, then back onto original reg, then another private reg (Different owners I assume)

Well you would definitely want to get the "write off" question mark cleared up before proceeding any further - coz that would not marry up with the "BODYWORK IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ZERO MARKS, SCRATCHES OR DENTS ANYWHERE ON THE CAR AT ALL!" bit.

If it's been repaired though, that statement may well be true, as it stands in its current condition, not how it was?

Either way, it definitely needs clarifying.

Definitely not a Spec D

Hard to tell colour in the photos as it looks close to the Urban Grey but Spec Ds came with black leather interior not blue suede. There are other areas which are wrong but they could all be changed relatively easily.

Also, a MyCarCheck on my Spec D results in an "Impreza WRX STI-SPEC D"

That looks to be a straight STI.
