Default Clutch advice required asap

The Car is a V4 sti with a 2.5 forged lump and running an SC42 with supporting mods. It's in the process of having a UK 6 speed with rear diff and hubs fitted and we've found out that the clutch is no good.

I need some advice please and links where possible.

It can't be a standard clutch due to the power it's running (About 420), nor can it be hard work to use as the car is a daily driver.

I was hoping for a twin plate exeedy but the prices are sky high. I've seen a couple for sell which range from £400 - £550 but all have sold. There's one that might be available but is sold as a carbon fibre version. Will there be much difference in this except for weight saving? I was under the impression that it was the triple plate clutch that was carbon?

I do want to be able to launch the car without the fear of leaving the clutch on the floor but this won't happen very often.

Any advice or links to affordable clutches would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I would stick an ACT Heavy-Duty Street Disc Clutch in, I was running a couple of versions in mine right up to about 600bhp then I changed to something a little more expensive

Something like this one as the pedal feel won't be too bad and in stop start traffic it will still feel ok.

Cheers Banny,

Did you use one?

I know your old car was a monster? At what BHP were you using what?

Any recommendations for a UK supplier?

On my old one I was using an exedy twin at 666 bhp / 550 lbft but this has now been replaced with an ACT afaik. Driven eggy790s car which runs an ACT at crica 600bhp and it felt good bit firmer than my twin but not overly harsh.

Cheapest I believe is bren at apex performance

Trying to get hold of bren with no luck. The land line doesn't seem to connect and mobile is straight to voicemail.

I've emailed but no reply yet.

Has anyone spoke to him recently?

You could speak to Alyn at ASPerformance as I've always found him to be cheapest around.
