Default JDM folding mirror got pushed in

Hi guys,

I was checking my front right wheel when the clumsy me stood up and hit the side mirror with my head. This pushed and folded the side mirror in about half way. I pushed it back and was greeted with 2-3 clicks/cracks.

As i have a JDM STI Spec C, it comes with powered folding side mirrors, I'm not sure if I've damaged anything?? I folded the mirrors and noticed there seems to be 2 clicking sound after the mirror has completely folded. The other side doesn't do this.

Does it sound like I've broken anything? Plastic gears maybe? Anyone knows the working of the motor in the mirror?

What Daz says, I did the same to mine and thought I'd buggered it up, but after a few open/closes it was all good!

Hi daz, knocked by a car from the other direction? He/She must've been close!

Take it you folded it in electronically after being hit? (let it sort itself out?) Not sure if I should've done that instead. I pushed it out manually. and was greeted by 2-3 clicks/cracks.

I'm guessing yours wasn't damaged? Does the mirror make 2-3 click sounds after it's fully closed?

The question is, does it fold in and out electrically?
If so why worry about the clicking?

Thanks for replying. It seemed to have sorted itself out after a few cycles.

Well, because it doesn't seem normal and I'm a fussy a$$

Mine was a very close shave, I was just going around a left hand bend and person coming other way came around and cut corner right across my side of the road, I couldn't get any closer to the gutter and they just touched my mirror, I turned around but by then they had cleared off, not even sure what type of car it was as was more interested in getting out of the way, but glad yours has sorted itself same as mine, I really thought mine would have been broken.

Another question chaps.

Which side does your mirror fold in first? It's the passenger side that folds in and out first?

I had thought it sorted itself out, but i guess it is to a certain extent, but not completely. The 2-3 clicks when its folded in is gone, but now it has a distinct single click just as it completely unfolds.

I know it's not affecting anything, but it just bugs me a little.

Wondering if i should push it forward with my hands to "balance it out"

....oh and it happens to be my 1,000th post.

Oh that's good to know it's normal. Because i can't remember prior to my giving it a headbutt .

But are there any clicks when it's folded or unfolded?

Thanks for replying Gaz.

Take it you didn't force the mirror back in place after you've knocked it? Simply letting the motor sort itself out?
