Default 2003 gx spirt exhaust

Ones anyone know
A. The diameter of the exhaust, front to back.
B. if I can get a full decat for one
And c. Which exhaust sounds the nicest.

Cheers!

Ebay is your best bet. You'll need an un-equal length manifold too if you want the notorious impreza sound.

Hi,

The diameter of the non turbo exhausts is 2.25"..as turbo models start at 2.5 inches, these won't be a direct fit without welding.

Yes, you can get decat pipes from certain manufactures, but be warned, you are in for a migraine! Non turbos get stupid loud in the cabin.

As for options- I went with a cat-back system from Cobra in Sheffield- check out their website- they offer a very wide range.

Hayward and Scott also cater for the non turbo'd Scoob

Or as previously mentioned- you can have a gander on eBay

Also, as mentioned- you will need to change to a UEL manifold for the burble, although I chose not to do this myself..

Hope that helps you

Where can I find an unequal manifold then? Would it be worth getting a full 2.5" or 3" exhaust?

Japspeed used to do one for N/A's...but I've just had a quick look and they seem to have discontinued them.

Hayward and Scott also do them.

eBay too, although I would approach with caution as cheaper alternatives can often split.

Owing to the different set up, i.e. lack of down pipes not to mention the obvious lack of turbo, you wont be able to just use a turbo system on a Sport.

I do not know of any Sport systems that are larger than 2.25 inches neither and to be honest, why would you need anything any bigger??

As I mentioned, I currently have a cat back system from Cobra. I have the original equal length manifold, 2x original CATs and then I have a Cobra stainless resonated center section and back box with a 4.5 inch japslash tailpipe. It suits the car very nicely looks wise and if you worried it won't be loud enough- think again.

I originally had a straight through center section but the cabin drone was immense and un-livable. I later changed it to the resonated option which took the ear-bleeding frequency down a notch or too but not drastically.

I also have a removable bung for motorway use.

Its burbles a surprising amount considering I still have equal length headers, which is why I never bothered to change them.

If I was going to change them, H&S offer a UEL with a high-flow cat which would replace all the remaining OEM parts. It costs a pretty penny mind you...which is why I opted to just leave that part be

They also offer a de-cat manifold, which simplifies the set-up even more.

With this it would just go-

Manifold>Center Pipe>B.Box

But be warned, going down the de-cat route will make life difficult come MOT time

Thanks for all the help, when it comes to mot time which is 11 months anyway I'd stick the cats back on... I've seen the manifolds on scoobyworld by h&r but at near £1000 I'll probably pass haha.

There's a page on Facebook called Impreza Sport Club. There a few UEL manifolds that pop up for sale on there every now and again.

H&S prices are an utter joke in my opinion, you really don't need to be spending that for a non turbo exhaust.

Yes the ebay ones are cheap and won't be as good quality as the H&S ones but they'll do just fine on a sport.

When I sold my WRX and bought my Sport (The missus couldn't afford insurance) I had a genuine Borla EUL manifold imported over from America through a company called USAutomotive for around £350, but that was about 5 years ago. I was worried that the price was a bit steep, but the quality is amazing and it's covered by their million mile warranty, so it'll outlive the car. Might be an option if you are worried about the quality of the eBay manifolds and the price of the H&S ones.

Thanks for all this help, I'm after a larger diameter back box though. I've been looking into the afterburner vortex... Anyone on here with one?

I've found one on eBay that's been welded to 2" will this be okay? Can't find any 2.25" exhausts anywhere!
