Default Possible heater matrix problem?

I'm at work at the moment so I can't really be spending ages browsing looking for the answers I need.

After the bad weather the other week I went through plenty of big puddles on the motorways and roads. The car steemed up but I thought it was that wet it'll dry out eveventually.

Now I'm not so sure.
It only seems to steam up when the heater is on hot. It doesn't do it on cold setting. It'll still steam up the car even if the car is stone cold and on the hot heater setting.

I'm guessing I should check the hose/s first? Could someone tell me where they are please.

Anything else I should check before ordering a new heater matrix and finding out its not that?

Thanks

Maybe had some water get through to the pollen filter and it's still not dried out?

Is your passenger footwell dry?

It was very slightly damp on the right hand side of the passenger footwell. Does that signal the pollen filter then?

Could well do, obviously the outside air gets to the pollen filter, so in this awful weather and big puddles, why not water too?

Hopefully it is just an extreme one off and it will all dry out.
The pollen filter sits in a box type holder under / behind the glovebox. Loads on Youtube how to replace it, maybe check there.

I changed mine last month, took 10 mins tops.

Taste any damp on the carpets...seriously...if it's the heater matrix, it will be sweet-ish. If not, it's water getting in as you thought.

Could come through pollen filter or the grommet that the aircon pipes pass through.
