Default Opened up my ECU today

Right with my car running a MAF less set up and I wanted to know what was inside the ecu

So I whipped it out today, whats people thoughts on it ?


IN the bottom pic one of the Capacitors ????? has come off on one side , any idea what this is is all about, would it of been taken off for the new board that was put on

The new esl is a fantastic bit of kit and better than many other options in my opinion, including some stand alones.
Give Andy Stevens a pm on here, he's the man behind esl.

at a guess, the resistor has had one leg 'lifted' from the circuit board

The resistor is cut to run the board. If you re join it. It will run the o/e map. Its meant to be as it is when using a replacment board

Shame there isn't a switch for switchable maps , unless its been hid

You could do that. But the o/e map isnt mafless

no I don't mean between original MAP and the piggy back, I ment if the piggy back had 2 switchable maps

the daughter board fitted has the capability to run twin maps.

There might be switchable maps. on my old esl you floor the throttle then switch ignition on you seen the eml light blink once for map 1 or twice for map 2. Give it a go you never know..

so u would call it a daughter board supposed to piggy back.

yea I read the description on the ebay add and it does say it can have a couple maps on it

good to know it can handle up to 550bhp

It's one of the latest boards so MAFless or MAF based load as well as twin maps, knock control, closed loop idle, diagnostics, etc etc.
