Default what up pipe is this off?

evening all, I bought an up pipe a while ago off a guy on here but still not got round to fitting it as gonna stick a turbo on and a few other bits to make a remap worthwhile.

anyway, it was heatwrapped - badly lol so tonight I took it off to have a look at the pipe. its a slip joint with a ribbed part welded on over the top.

but is it just a standard STI one?

either way, its decatted so assume better than what I have!

Not worth anything imo, mine was in perfect nik and went straight in the bin. The wrap you took off was probably worth more than the pipe.

What a silly comment, surely as its a direct fit to a newage wrx that has a cat in the up pipe it is definitely worthy of not being binned!

.. right size for the decent spool too ... The only problem i had with the older ones that they tend to split in the flexy place .

Standart headers are good enough for 400 bhp , i've just been on the rollers and it made 405.8 , OEM headers and Scorpion slip jointed , but standart size uppipe...

Stuff like Harveys ported OEM headers with his trick uppipe works great if you want to spend a bit more and get the spool advantage...

It doesn't have the EGT sensor hole that is on a bug up-pipe so if you want to use it you'll need to bypass the sensor.
If you're going to the hassle of fitting a new up-pipe (and yes, it is a hassle) then a harvey special is little over a hundred quid all wrapped up. And if you're patient they come up second hand for half that.

My standard manifold and up-pipe went straight in the bin. For the tiny amount of money I might of got wasn't worth the hassle of sending them.

Still worth good money as pictured IMHO, clean studs and a perfect WRX upgrade. All uppipe changes need wrapping and mapping and Mants is right, the size is perfect to maintain spool rather than the crap speed 3" jobs that everyone seems intent on fitting. Harveys 'trick' uppipes are great but massively overhyped on scoobnet IMHO. I have one £40 spent on one of these with mint studs is a good upgrade IMHO

Certainly not worthless

Ok, maybe not completely worthless to some but I really can't see anybody in their right mind paying 40 or 50 quid for an old second hand standard classic up-pipe.
I also agree that the harvey ones do get overhyped on here but theres no doubting they are better than a standard one. And occasionally they come up on here for not much more than the price you've put on the one above and will already be wrapped up.
I certainly wouldn't dream of paying anything like 40 sheets for a standard un-wrapped pipe hence mine getting chucked.

Well, i didnt know it was a std one, only a slip jointed one so took a punt.

Paid £60 and it was wrapped, but not very well so i took it off to reveal the one pictured. That is not my actual one but looks exactly the same.

An M18 lambda boss is **** all, so having one welded on is no biggie, then re-wrap.

TBH i haven't seen any aftermarket up pie with the EGT hole in it , and the other Lambda which is in the headers should be replaced into downpipe for safety reasons anyway ...

if the std one was the perfect size then it would make my job easier as i wouldn't bother manufacturing/stocking various sized "Harvey" up-pipes.............

20-30 quid is plenty for a stock item. A ported/wrapped item should fetch a couple of quid more.
