Newbie - Blob-eye Wagon wanted
Hi Guys,
I hope this is in the right place, if not, feel free to move it.
Been lurking for a while and signed myself up last night. Currently got a Honda S2000, but with a baby on the way I've taken a deposit on it and started my search for a Blob-Eye wrx estate.
If anyone knows of a decent un-abused example for sale, I'd be grateful for information. I'd prefer sunroof and leather if possible, full service history and under 100k miles. Budget of c£5k.
Should I be concerned with wrx's with towbars fitted? Spoke to a guy earlier who had a clean example for sale but he mentioned that he works self-employed and occassionaly tows a trailor. It kind of put me off, but I'm not sure if it should have? Any thoughts?
Cheers

Welcome.Great choice; fast, safe for family, room for fridge, bike, dog (not at same time unless minibar, kids trike and chihuahua)Take your time looking and you should get a lower mileage one for £5000. Personally, I avoid towbars, but it really depends if any serious weight has been pulled. Good luck

Shame you're in the market now.
I'll probably be selling this sometime in the future, just not right now. But at least you've chose a nice Wagon
2004 WRX SL with PPP, FSH from new, 78k...

Nice ScoobyNoob! It is a shame.
Thanks for the advice. I agree it should be a decent family car. The one I'm looking at is on auto trader near Southport. It's blue with PPP and done 59k. Sorry no idea how to sort links.
What do you guys think?

Looks ok, I'm not too sure on the price, seems a bit steep IMO.

Still looking. There's not that many about with PPP and SL.
If I find a nice blob-eye without PPP what are my options in terms of upping the power to c265bhp as per the PPP?

I found it difficult to find a good wagon when I was looking just a few weeks ago so I ended up with a saloon and will be buying the wife a BMW/Audi wagon.

I begining to think I might have to settle with cloth seats, but I've just got a hankering for the top spec and if I bide my patience, I'm sure something will come up.
ScoobyNoob, the cash is here and waiting if you decide to let yours go. Otherwise, if anyone knows of any others likely to be for sale, please point them in my direction.
You can buy all the PPP parts or similar off here and have the ecu re-flashed by a mate of mine since your local.
Cheers for your help guys

Yep, there's not a cat in hell's chance of finding a mint one for £3k. I've been looking (non-stop) for the last 4/5 weeks and I've only seen two cars which ticked the boxes. Both of those sold within a week at c£5k.

Ditch, how much do you think I could get all the PPP sorted for? Just so I know what to budget if I find a perfect wagon with SL but no PPP.

All you need for the PPP is the intercooler Y pipe, I think i have the blue prodrive one somewhere, changed all mine to Venair, the decat, prodrive backbox and the ecu flashing.
Haha, I think at the very earliest I would consider selling would be at least 3 months, but tbh, I love it!

So where are all these Newage Imprezas in mint condition for £3k?
When I got my 05 WRX back in August, a mate of mind said that he knew a bloke that got a Newage for £1500!
Well done that man I said. When I found out the specifics:
02 Bugeye
Dark Blue
135,000 miles
Some service history
Bald Tyres
Came with 1 month Tax and MOT
Rust on the boot lid and rear bumper
Plus, when I found all this out, he also said that the brakes were sticky and that it had developed an oil leak.
Yeah, ok. I was for my late 05 model with 57k for £4500.

I got one!!! WR Blue, PPP, no Leather but really well looked after black seats. It's a 2004 and well looked after, looks very tidy. Will post photos this weekend once it's all cleaned up. You know what it is like when you get a new motor, it isn't yours until you've given it a bath....

Don't forget to get some pictures up when "she's" had a bath and depending where you are in Derbyshire you might not be to far away from me!!!
Enjoy
