To vinyl wrap or not to wrap
just got rid of my old classic my00 and bought another my00 lol love them! only real reason was that my old one had been to the moon and back, and I didn't really want to be putting loads of money into something that had that many miles! anyway my new classic only has 80k and has been off road for a while, engine is sweet, body a bit rough/faded paint.
so im thinking of getting it vinyl wrapped in a matt colour, im going to see a company doing it Monday, but I know they are going to tell me its the best thing since sliced bread, so just wondered if any of you had ever had it done or seen any cars that have/ any pro's or cons? cheers

YouTube plasti dip, or dip my car. Ideal for Matt paint finished, and it's cheaper. Personaly I would get the car repainted correctly which isn't going to be cheap but you " love them" I have a my00 myself
ive vinyl wrapped my interior with carbon fibre my self took fooking ages as id never done it before but turned pretty good looks a lot better than it did. cost me about £80 in materials from ebay, but that covered every ****ty bit of plastic you can see apart from the top of the dash. ill get more pics of you want the door cards look the best
If done well the wrapping can look really wow.
If done poorly or the colour's not right your car will look like it belongs in a McDonalds car park.
A respray in a good colour would be what I would go for! But as someone said above it's a lot to spend on a car. Mods wise that money may be better spent elsewhere or put towards a better car one day. Don't take that as snobbery by the way it is not my intention.

ive personally have no experience of wrapping a car/or parts in vinyl but I suppose it all comes down to the quality of the surface its being applied to. there's a guy near me with a classic shape that done a carbon wrap on the bonnet and boot lid. while bonnet looks fine, the boot does not. its began lifting/ peeling and gone flaky round the edges and to be honest looks a mess. been done about 2 years I think.
also from what I've read and understand most old classics suffers from rusty back arches, so if you are putting a lot of money into having a car wrapped how long will it be before the arches start to corrode and you have horrible bumps and bubbles under the vinyl? I would also think that it can become a water trap, unless its going to live in a heated garage?
only my thoughts but I think vinyl wrapping a car is best suited to newer cars / show cars.
no offence intended....just trying to look at it from a practical point of view.

He means that a faded old classic isn't worth a great deal and that a full decent vinyl wrap job will cost well over a grand, which is probably more than you paid for the car.

a FULL car wrap is about £1500
these guys did my roof... http://www.pwpro.co.uk/cars/vinyl-wrapping
they're the only ones I'd let have my car to do a full wrap.
you wanna see some of the work they have to put right after others have cut into paint work going around trim etc!
find them on facebook to see what I mean
