ALL DRIVERS READ THIS!!! It's About Those Blue Poles....
#1
Hi peeps.
When I first joined Scoobynet, one of the first questions I posted was regarding the blue poles that were springing up all over the place alongside almost every A-road I travelled on. I was concerned that they were some new-fangled speed camera system.
As it turns out, the answer I got was that they were part of a nationwide 'Trafficmaster' system used for measuring traffic flow. They were 100% private, and would never be used for any other purpose.
Today however, I received an e-mail detailing several new speed detection methods that were soon to be put into use. Part of the e-mail reads....
"Be aware of the new speed cameras which are being erected the
complete length of the 'A' and 'M Roads. They are recognised by a
tall blue coloured poles and a small aerial pole next to it. We may
have a possible stay of execution, due to the privacy law
up-holding these units from being switched on. At the moment
it is being debated within Parliament."
Now unless I am mistaken, this is referring to the very same poles that have always given me cause for concern, especially as they seemed to be appearing on completely 'useless' roads miles from anywhere, where there is no risk of there EVER being a problem with traffic flow.
Has anyone else received this mail, or does anyone know if it is true?
The mail also details the new SPECS system, and seems to be perfectly legitimate.
If anyone would like me to forward the full mail to them, mail me.
Regards.
Stef.

Stef,
although this is almost certainly a hoax, such "big brother" tactics already seem to be in widespead use
On the way up to NM5 on Sunday, on a bridge over the M6 was a white van marked something like "Police Control Unit". Strategically placed over at least two carriageways were some sort of camera equipment on tripods.
There were no radar or laser signals to be detected, as several Scoobs passed by at around the speed limit.
Who would have thought that Sunday was a "big risk" time on motorways?
The e-mail is probably a hoax, but the intent is still _very_ real!!!!
