Default Variable speed camera's on M62

Hi,

Has anyone been zapped by these?

I was travelling from Leeds to Manchester the other day and signs were set to 60. Was in a bit of a daydream and just as I went through the next set I noticed they were now at 50. Not sure if I slowed enough on time - didn't see any flash.

I had a look up on the way back and noticed some of the gantries have camera's behind the signs, but some didn't. Other than that one slip up I was below the limit the whole time - didn't seem to be stopping others from tonking along without any regard though!

I guess I'll find out in the fullness of time if I've been done. Just keen to find out if others have had any dealings with these.

Cheers
GC

Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news but yes they are working. I was on the 62 last night and saw an almighty double flash on the other side of the road. Also saw one on Sunday afternoon.

If you didn't see a flash I would not be too concerned as you would certainly know about it!

Yes they are active I believe, but set quite high limit wise so you should be OK. I saw a gy get zapped the other night at about 75 in a 50 yet another car probably doing 60ish didn't trigger them.

I know at least for a while the 70MPH zones were set to catch only the worse offenders at 90MPH, There's reports of that limit being dropped to 82MPH. I saw this online because I researched it before after going through one a bit too quick, I think they are set quite high to whatever limit is being displayed.

I use to travel to my ex girlfriends a lot, I passed through a lot of cameras maybe a little faster than I should have doing exactly what you described and never heard anything. As long as you weren't massively above the limit you'll be fine.

Another thing i'll say just in case anyone mentions it, I've seen on another forum someone post that the way you tell if your side of the motorway will have camera's is if the other side (facing you) has them... That is 100% b*****ks and if you judge it like that you'll be able to warm your house for the winter with all the tickets on your doorstep lol

Does anyone know if when the signs aren't on the cameras would still work if travelling over 70.......or are the cameras deactivated if the signs are blank?

I thought that might be the case. Glad I've been playing it safe on my commute!
