Default Rear Diff

My Hawkeye WRX rear diff needs new bearings as there's slight play on the drive shaft, i've spoken to the garage who do all the work on my car and i'm looking at about £500 for parts and rebuild of the diff.

I'm awaiting a response from ScoobySpares for a price on a secondhand diff but i was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea on what kind of price i'm going to be looking at.

Also do i have to use a rear diff from a hawkeye WRX or could i use a rear diff from a bug or blob?

You'll need a diff that matches your gearbox. I would guess you need a r160 3.54 final drive like I did which I paid Scott £80 for.

Hope that helps!

Cheers dude that is helpful.

I wasn't sure if going down the secondhand route and getting it matched was going to be cheaper than a complete rebuild.
Other reason for getting a secondhand one was because i didn't know what state the gears on the final drive were in as that will drive the price up if they need replacing.
