Default problem with 98 impreza turbo uk

alri just wondering if any 1 can help with with a problem im experiencing with my impreza or if any1s had the same problem? the problem is when im driving out of no-where i loose power and its choking and spluttering, black smoke **** out of the exhaust, i rev it and is bouncin on say 2000 with my foot to the floor then it clears and is alri again, but it seems to b happenin more n more and sum times will cut out but always starts straight bak up, clears an is alri again. i was told it could b the fuel pump but iv replaced it an its still the same. alsoiv bought a td05 turbo but cant see how the top entry on it will connect to the inlet feed pipe from airfilter??? also have got 440 yellow injectors but they wont fit either??? any help or advise is much appreciated thanks

is it the feul filter need changing, also youve got a top entry td05 ou need a front entry the intake piping is completely diffrnt, you can get a new housing that converts to front entry, your injectors should fit what makes you say they dont and what ecu do you have

Injector issue - being a 98 car you have a 1.5 phase engine. I'd guess the 440's you have are from a later phase 2 car. You need a fitting kit. See the link below -

http://www.carldavey.co.uk/product.php?id=2

Turbo issue - the td05 you have is from an early phase 1 car, these used top entry turbos whereas later cars like yours use front entry. It is possible to modify the turbo by cutting the pipe off and re-welding a small piece on. Its quite common.
