Unhappy Cooby Sport classic HELP!!!

Hey guys,

Got a small problem, I'm a new Scooby owner!

I recently bought a Impreza 1998 2L sport AWD

And it needs MOT'ing and tiding up.

Issues I have are:-

I need a new exhaust system (preferably stainless and second hand cheap)

Need Decent WRX spoiler or something big

Need some decent alloys would like black but not to bothered as I can respray them!

and basicly any other bits no one wants that they think would go on it!
It has a big bonnet air intake scoop already.

The car is Green.

Also slight issue, When filling with fuel it leaks out the over flow

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance

Dave

rusty filler pipe (very common) and not that cheap to repair for the fuel issue is my guess.

Scooby clinic changed my filler pipe a few years back for £120. They took one off one of these scrap cars.

Hi Dave,

Two things.

We like pictures of Scoob's .

There is a "Wanted" section and it's full of car's being broken and you can buy til your broke .

A second hand fuel filler neck is not to expensive and easy to fit DIY.#

And welcome.

Be aware that a turbo exhaust won't fit so you will need a sport one if you didn't already know.

You'd be better of searching ebay for a non turbo exhaust system.

What's different about the exhausts (non turbo vs turbo) I thought they would all be the same from CAT Back ...

The bore is a different size, not by much mind you, but still different.

The non-turbo is 2.25" and the std. turbo models are 2.5"

Did mine myself and I am totally useless when it comes to spanners

Bought one for thirty quid from a breaker on here and it took me thirty minutes to figure it out, no leaks once done.

yeh im just gonna buy a second hand one and chuck it on I think, sick of putting 20 pound fuel in and 10 pounds landing on the forecourt floor lol. Bought a rear hub and suspension from a scrappy on ebay the other day, we failed in communication, I have ABS and his car and bits didn't. So now I have a spare hub with a decent bearing that I can not use. on the other hand I had to buy a new bearing and get it pressed.

Well once again it will be ready by Monday for its MOT and hopefully it will pass this time, now I've welded the sills up!
So once its done I will take a picture then a after picture once I've finished playing with it.
It's hard to modify when you have your wife watching your ebay account and your bank account ;-)
Soon it will be done and then I think a track day will be in need. Might leave the child seats in the back mind =D

The exhaust systems are completely different between a turbo and non turbo and not just in size.

This is true, naturally

I was merely answering the question Scoobydoo Ste posted with regards to the centre section and backbox.

On looks alone I would say if it is 2.25" like they state in the advert then theoretically it would...but I wouldn't like to say for sure as the description doesn't say specifically what car it is from apart from the year. Most sellers would stress if it was from a non-turbo car to avoid a mix-up.

I'd be tempted to call the seller just to be on the safe side if I were you...

Have you thought about getting a 18-24 inch length of plastic tubing that fits into the fuel tank and around a fuel nozzle?
You can then directly inject fuel into the tank, not risk an inferno.

You'd also be able to put the otherwise wasted money into your 'my next scooby will be a turbo' fund.

Btw a belated welcome to SN.
Anywhere near Kendal by any chance?

Hah, yes my next Scooby will be a turbo ;-)
I live in grange over sands so not far from Kendal.
I have found a fuel pipe for a decent price second hand, also I have now bought some silicon hosing with adapters if needed.
Welding is done on the car, brake pipes replaced, exhaust ordered, rear hub yet to be done, rear suspension replaced, number plate bulb yes replaced lol. clutch next whoop whoop.

I sometimes hate cars and wish I still had my bike.
But when I sit in this Scooby classic It makes me think of all the old cars that make you feel your drive and the road. Its amazing. =D

I had a 6-month contract in Kendal way back in 2000.

Nice place, great friendly people.
Great roads as well (I had a Catalunya then ).

I know what you mean about the feel of it.
I always looked forward to my drive up and back, despite the 245 miles each way and the M6 and M5.

Right all is going well... It has passed its MOT after lots of cash and time spent on it. New middle section as the 2.25" stainless exhaust system was the wrong size to connect to the cat as my system originally is 1.75?!?! random I know.
Well now the rear drums are getting a clean and the induction kit is getting fitted.
New (second hand) alloys with decent tyres 17" are coming end of next week.
New lights on front. New bonnet vents. just need to get the body kit and some carbon sheeting and a few other minor bits and then give the old girl a full respray.
Also does anyone have a DE cat pipe for a 2ltr sport 1998 Scooby saloon?
If so chuck me a price for it cheers.
Will take some pictures before and after it goes in the garage for the paint job.

Cheers

Well here it goes, Next week I'm taking some pictures of the old girl before she gets a slight revamp. She goes in for the Stage 1 clutch and a few other tweeks and touches.

Buy im looking for a few parts if anyone has them.

I need
Either lowering springs or coilovers for my 1999 GC8 saloon.
Head's off a 2ltr 16v sport AWD non turbo.
1 x Bucket seat ( prefer after market and reclinable.)
1x harness 3 point if possible.
rear hubs and calipers with discs to upgrade mine of drums. ABS need to be in the bearing if you know what I mean.
Apparently there is 2 designs of ABS on these cars.
And a noose to hang my self after seeing the amount I have spent since I have bought the damn thing =)

Cheers

Dave
