Default Random CEL P0172 08 STi

Guys wonder if anyone can advice?

For the last year my 08 sti has random P0172 CEL's, the first occasion I reset the ECU and it didn't reoccur however after some advice I changed the front O2 sensor to be sure.

11 months later (today ) I noticed it was a little hesitant at low <2000 RPM and at lunchtime the CEL came on, when checked this was another P0172....

Reset again been for a long drive this evening and everything seems fine

I'm a little reluctant to spend another £250 on a front O2 sensor if this isn't the fault.

I don't believe it to be an airleak as the fault goes for nearly a year without

Anyone else had any simular symptoms air suggestions what to check?

Regards

Jim

P0172 is rich bank one, sometimes can indicate a faulty sensor.

Have you checked for air leaks & checked the fuel pressure.

Hi Rob,

Had a visual inspection on the vacuum hoses and couldn't see anything obvious, don't have the equipment to check the fuel pressure myself so will probably have to get it to the dealers but don't hold much hope with them to be honest as last time I took it to them after I cleared the CEL was told there was nothing wrong with it...

Do you know if the 02 sensor can be checked with a multi meter or is the a select monitor job only?
Is there anything else I can check at myself?

Regards
Jim
