what to replace on higher miles classic?
as title looking for advice on what i should replace engine wise on a my96 wagon? its just turned 86,000 which is not bad for the year but just thought some components must be getting a bit tired and thought it might be a good idea to try and protect the engine. its running 315 bhp on an apexi and 440,s and td05 and it hasnt missed a beat since its remap with andy f. im thinking oil pump and water pump for starters but is there anything else considered worth doing? brakes and discs etc were all renewed and refreshed 4 pots with stainless pistons are on their way from scoobyworx so that side is covered. and i fitted sti red inverted shocks last yr so suspension is ok for now too. thanks for any advice gents.

cheers guys, alcazar cam belt was done in july 2011 when the car was at 79,000 i think according to my paperwork and RA motorsport take care of that side of things and they are very good so no worries there. suspension is prob a good idea if theres nothing more to do engine wise? what sort of time frame or mileage should head gaskets be a concern at all? or is it just a case of it will go when it goes? thanks again

Head gaskets ought to last almost forever so long as a) it's properly mapped, and b) you don't let it run dry of coolant or airlock it.
If you are doing the water pump, you could replace top and bottom hoses too, Of those two, top hose is likely to be on it's way out), and the thermostat.
Replace the 'stat with a standard one...it's been OK so far.
how's the radiator? Mine went very crumbly and eventually let go at 90,000. Again, replaced with a bog-standard one bought local, although ebay ones are the same and cheaper.
And if doing THAT, have a look at the coolant crossover pipe that runs across the lower front edge of the engine...I've seen them almost rusted through at that mileage, they aren't that dear and dead easy to replace.
