Default Type 25 Build Number 20 (2004)

Hi, I'm wondering if you lot could help me out.

A couple of pals and I are trying to find out any infomation about this car we have purchased as we are a bit confused.
After reading through many blogs, forum etc still drawing up blanks.

We have recently purchased this as a project and were wondering a bit about the breed. We are unsure of how many were made, what the list price was and what the worth would be today. I have seen one advertised but it's different to the one we have.

We were told that it is a Mk1 type 25.

Any help would be greatly received.

Many thanks

Its a my04 (i'm assuming this is the year?) and its black, only 15k on the clock too. Its been sitting in a garage for ages apparently. It's mostly just cosmetic damage and nothing a good service won't fix. Must admit I'm a total novice with scoobys so any help appreciated. I've emailed Litchfield. Are these sought after or something? Why could it get interesting? Sorry for my novice ways lol. Will take some pics and post them soon. I've checked out all the info on Litchfield. There was some mention of when this car was first produced a batch were made that authorities weren't happy with as they were basically the rally car with plates so Litchfield stopped making this car and produced a 'softer' version, any truth in this?

Nope perfectly road legal cars based on JDM spec. These are pretty well sought after mainly due to their performance, build and rarity.

I saw a beautiful grey one about a month ago and I would love to try one. Keep hold of it.

I was told the original owner of my car had number one T25 which was stolen and never recovered and brought number 37. Remember the cars were not always new when litchfield modded them.Evo mag had mine in a road test as a spec c 2 ltr

The Type 20 is a 2.0L
the Type 25 is a 2.5L
If you was to by a vType 25 when new with all the extras, including the Porsche fully forged engine running 415BHP you would of paid over 40K for this,
they were all sold with slightly different spec & power.
& I thought they were all Spec Cs JDM that Litcho modified, but I might be wrong.

I wanted one!

That was my understanding too. I don't really want to start work on it till I know what I have here. Does anyone know when they were first made?

Mk 1 type 20/25 was a blob with the 25 having a USDM forged engine
Mk 2 type 20/25 was a hawk and the 25 had a cosworth numbered engine
Not all of them were based on a Spec-C shell as far as i know...Some of the type 20`s were the standard JDM Sti.

That's correct. However, not all cars were based on a spec c. Certainly not the mark2's and from what I remember (though may be wrong about this part) not mark1's either.
I used to have some info in an old email somewhere but can't find it....if I come across it ill put the info up. Best bet is to speak with Iain -he'll have the spec of your particular build on file.
Also, I'm pretty sure Japanese performance did an article as they were just coming out....2003 I think......?

sorry just read this about the Cosworth engine. This has a Cosworth engine and some kind of Prodrive pack but will need to investigate further on that. So this can't be a Mk 1?

As gaz states the mk1 started with the t20 a 2.0 with a few light mods, custom map and ast suspension. They introduced the t25 with the usdm 2.5 with forged pistons and not much else from memory. Mk 2 was based on the hawkeye and the 2.0 remained in standard from where as the t25 got the full cosworth treatment.

http://www.type-25.com/home.asp

Both had the option at time of ordering in being built on a Jdm sti or the spec c

That's my understanding of them

Drop litchfield a call and they should help the shed some light on your car, although they seem to have focused on the gtr now
