Default Hawkeye STi Clocks into STi Blobeye (DCCD)

Hi all, I've just put hawk clocks in my blobeye. I had red JDM ones before but the speedo converter was on the blink, UK hawk clocks came up cheap so thought I'd just take the converter out of the question and go with UK clocks and retain the red/swoop!

I shaved the connector as is required but I got a couple of issues:

There is a constant beep coming from behind the dash when I click the key to first click and beyond. The beep doesn't happen with the JDM clocks back in the car.

The fuel gauge on the Hawk clocks doesn't drop to zero when I shut the car down, but I can't be sure whether this is intended behaviour or a stuck needle. Annoyingly my car has got about 40% of a tank left and the hawk clocks display roughly that. I can't go fill my car up until tomorrow as its on jack stands ATM waiting for wheels to come back from refurb.

So question 1) what's the beep and how do I stop it, it's constant and doesn't stop till I turn the car off.

2) Does the hawk fuel gauge drop to zero when the car is switched off?

Cant say for the hawk. Definatly the blob and bug uk cars the fuel guage remains reading when switched off. So its likely the hawk is the same

Sorted the buzzing, cut wire C9. Found that on NASIOC.

I'll await tomorrow to find out the fuel gauge mystery though. I found an old photo from my eBay ad when selling my OEM UK clocks. See the Fuel gauge stuck in position?

here You have few answers
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ht=sti+cluster (just seen you asked questions there to
im surprised as i have hawk clocks in 03wrx and my fuel gauge drop to zero(maybe were cheap for a reason),
beep You need to cut one wire easy to solve, cant tell you now which but you probably find it in forum from link above.
strange You needed to shrink connector as i thought blob05 and hawk clocks are plug and play.

just checked them again and yes drop to zero , when power up both fuel/temp gauges going little up and down, fuel gauge set to actual petrol level after that

Nope not plug and play, 05 Blob plugs are the same as all the other blob plugs - only the rest of the interior changed with the widetrack :P

As I said, it appears my OEM UK clocks didn't reset fuel either... so either coincidence, or like you say my new dials are cheap for a reason!

I shall find out tomorrow. If I fill up and the gauge doesn't move, I will be a bit upset!

Mystery solved, got my car back on its wheels tonight and went to fill up. As soon as I got back in the car after brimming the tank, the needle was sat at zero - so something must have "reset" when the fuel level gauge in the tank moved, or something.

The gauge now drops to zero each time I turn the car off, as per with the JDM ones.
