What the law about cats when you go for a Mot? If one is not fitted do you need one , or is this down to the age of the car?

If a cat was fitted to the vehicle from manufacture under the new MOT rules it has to be in place to pass, even if it passes emissions test without one, which is doubtful . It doesn't have to be the standard cat fitted just as long as it has one in place.
