Default Intercooler water- Tap or distilled?

For the intercooler spray system on 05 STI what water is best to use Tap or Distilled?
Wondering if tap would slowly fur up the jets as our water is pretty hard and limescaley.

Obviously, purified water is the best choice as it is for the coolant in the engine as you will get far less corrosion and scaling. However, if you live in a soft water area you can get away with just tap water. I would hazard a guess that as you are in Clacton, that the water is probably quite hard as it is here in Romford!
Don't forget that collecting the water when you de-frost the fridge or freezer and using that, is perfect!

very hard water in southampton, absolute nightmare cleaning a black car. I buy gallon bottles of distilled water from inexcess for about £1.95. I think the tap water we have would scale up the pipes quite quickly.

Yes pretty bad here too.

What do you guys use in the winter to stop it freezing? I thought about just running it dry and leaving it that way for the winter.
(only had car couple weeks now)

Don't put anything in with the water, just make sure the tank is only half full.

ah ok thanks. I guess that is so there is enough room for expansion if the water freezes?

Thinking about it more could/should you also use distilled water for the screen wash?
After all is a very similar set-up to the IC.
