Popping and banging
Hi Guys, I have just fitted a colins dump valve to my 2007 wrx sti. Its already been mapped and has a down pipe fitted with just a 2.5 inc pipe. Since the dump has been fitted whenever a get to 4000 revs in 3rd gear there is an almighty bang/pop from the exhaust, is this normal?

But what F1 CJE UK was saying, was that if you wanted the pops and bangs, get them mapped in i.e. safe, as the pops and bangs at the minute are from your car misfuelling i.e. not safe.

Performance garage eh, sounds so much better than normal garage. Do they have a new engine for you when yours goes bang? As others have said, something is clearly not right, do yourself a favour and return it to a OEM dump valve, otherwise your next new thread could be 'my engines gone bang what should I do?'

I just fitted a bov to mine a couple of days before a health check from JGM. Mine is programmed for over run so pops only on down shift but other than that I was happy it was checked by a reputable mapper. Take the advice and get it checked.

Whilst I am not a fan of the DV's, your garage need to check why it bangs at 4000pms, get it done now before a piston goes bang at 4000 rpms whilst on the motorway with all your bro's in the car 'innit!

Haha tubby that's what I was thinking! Asked for advice then basically ignores it! Mphlly get your car to a decent subaru garage and untill you can I would take DV off and put oem back on! Nobody on here is bs ing you carry on with silly fuelling problem and you will end up needing a new engine!

It's a load of overfuelling that's causing the almighty bang. I bet the first time it happened you cacked yourself! It was probably akin to a gun firing. The end result if you leave it is apart from getting woeful mpg, you'll cause bore wash which doesn't really end happily.
