Default Base car for a track car

What would your base car be for a track car ? Don't all say spec c ! I was looking through ebay and there are some cheap ra on there but given you'd change most bits what would you go for and why ?

I e been thinking the same, decided i want a beaten up classic 2000 turbo, purely for the cost. Its gonna be gutted, so im not botherd about what its not got, and not botherd about big bhp. Just wanna go and have some fun but depends what you want. My last track car was my old 306 S-16 exhaust indution kit and coil overs is all it had. Oh and nothing inside

Early RA with a Newage short motor in it and decent brakes.

Depends on budget as always. The biggest bargains are bugeye jdm sti's. otherwise an import classic wrx.
