Default remapping question

Ok, so just a quick question for someone in the know. I was having a discussion with one of my mates who has recently bought himself a new astra sri, and is now thinking if getting it remapped. But i was of the understanding that without a turbo a remap would just be a waste of time? What kind of increase in bhp would he expect to see?

you can get any car remapped but on a N/A engine the gains are marginal, may 5-10bhp at most.

Best mods would be a filter and de-cat on it, and shed some weight!

I mapped my an old e36 BMW 318ti 1.9litre. I never got a rolling road print out but I was impressed with the throttle response and overall increase. As above. I would suggest a few bolt on mods before and aim to loose weight. Handling moddifications would also improve the car and allow the power to be used more effectively.
