ebay exhaust system
hi guys/ladies, wonder if you can help me at all I have two questions to ask, they mite sound stupid ones but I thought I ask any way as I don't want to damage to my engine
1, im looking for a full dect system for my 04 blob eye been getting lot of prices ranging up to £550, but on ebay they a lot cheaper ones, the guy who will be remaping my car for me told me to keep away from ebay as any body brought one of ebay brand new and been happy with it?
2, having changed the exhaust system is it ok to drive the car around with engine management light on as I guess this is come on until I get it remapped, stupid questions I know but like I say just don't want to do any engine damage also another question what I thought of, were can I get a delay switch fitted that lets the engine idle and oil pressure drop before cutting out?
thanks Ian

Question 1.
Ebay exhausts, you get what you pay for. A few on here have used them, quality is average but does the job. Fitment is often troublesome but if your handy with the spanners you should be fine. If you can, stretch to a known proven system from one of the many specialists. At least you know it'll fit perfectly and do exactly what you need.
Question 2.
Running around with de-cat before map. Yes it'll be fine, keep away from boost and it'll be ok. Just poodle around if you need to use the car. Just don't thrash it at all !!!
Question 3.
You mean turbo timer. Dont waste your money, just drive steady for the last half mile of the journey, or let it idle for 30 secs before you switch off.

For the same money as a new ebay one, you could probably find a branded 2nd hand one on here mate!
Agreed with the above about turbo timers. Nothing wrong with them, but I just don't come on boost for the last mile or so, and coast in neutral for about the last 200m of my journey!

1. Ive got an ebay exhaust on my 2001 WRX and TBH its a great piece of kit. Full 3" all the way from the turbo back with a bellmouth downpipe, centre section and 5" backbox. Not too loud either. The fit is ok after a bit of adjustment and the quality is excellent, with good clean welds and triple layered flexi sections. All for £168 delivered.
With the exhaust, a filter and new plugs mine made 270bhp after a remap.
2. A turbo timer can be a nice show-off item, but as mentioned already its not essential . The cooling system in a modern Impreza is designed so that a cooling down procedure isnt necessary before switching the car off
